Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Never been to Café Metz before but would highly recommend this café to anyone. Delicious "Huge" burgers, friendly staff and the coffee was perfect.

We had lunch at this delightful cafe last week, and are so glad we chose this place out of the many cafes in Canungra. Right from the moment of walking in, we noticed all the staff were so friendly, everyone had a smile and the...vibe was great. There was both indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside and it was a great spot to just watch the activity of the street whilst eating yummy food. The food selection was really good, both off the menu and from the bain maree. One of us had a hamburger, one had a frittata and one had a filo pastry, all were devine and really well priced. If you are looking for a casual, well priced cafe with awesome service and food in Canungra, then this place fits the billMore

Travelling up to Lamington National Park, Cafe Metz in Canungra was a perfect brunch stop. Before even entering the cafe, I could smell the delicious food they were creating! We were not disappointed with what we chose to order! The food and hot chocolates were...fantastic! We didn’t have to wait for too long for our food to be served. The only disappointing thing was when we travelled back down the mountain the next door, the cafe was closed in the afternoon … will have to return another time!More

Interesting breakfast options and a nice lunch menu, combined with great coffee, makes this a perfect place for brunch. The place is both dog friendly and has some lovely views over the mountains, too.

Staff are so nice & friendly! The menu is fabulous & the food delicious. Yummiest eggs Benedict with crispy tasty bacon. A bit of history with big old house (you don’t get much character on Gold Coast so it’s nice). Our favourite eatery!

Have to admit the staff did a pretty good job coping with Mother's Day madness last Sunday morning. Nabbed a table on the balcony, which could have done with a wipe down from previous occupants, but our coffee and breakfast wrap orders were processed reasonably...quickly and tasted OK. Have never been a big Merlo fan, so actually preferred the Tobys Estate coffee over the road at El Social, but the service there was bang average.More

i have been coming here with my family for the past 2-3 years on a regular basis, however visited this morning for brunch and was disgusted with the staff.. the staffs rude service and attitude and unprofessionalism. we sat inside and watched the staff mocking...and gossiping about customers, chewing gum while taking orders (which is not a good look) i ordered a coffee and it was brought to the table by the barista herself in a takeaway container which i did not ask for, she slapped it on the table and when i politely said "i didnt order a takeaway cup, love" she abruptly said "well it was on the docket" then she stormed off with attitude and no apology whatsoever then continued to whinge about us to the staff, which i might add i could over hear them doing this about a lot of the customers in there this morning. the owner who is always amazing and welcoming with the customers obviously wasnt there today as the staff were unfriendly, rude and unprofessional.. its a shame, maybe there are 1 or 2 new staff members (like the female barista) who are letting the place down service wise. couple of the staff need a good shake up (retraining) otherwise there may be more negative reviews to what has always been a really nice country cafe to visit.More

Haven’t been here for a few years, and the breakfast and coffee is still amazing, definitely worth stopping at on your way through Canungra. Great staff, very friendly, but very busy especially on the weekends.

The business owner must of been having a bad day because I witnessed the most appalling treatment of a customer today yelling abuse at them in front of other customers. Who does that? Keep your attitude towards others to yourself even if she felt it...was deserved. From what I could tell...it wasn’t. No one wants to witness that when they’re trying to enjoy a meal. And here I thought I was bringing my friends to a happy place for breakfast. She should be ashamed of her behaviour.More

Was visiting Canungra for a few days and when we arrived, went looking for a substantial lunch and coffee hit. Cafe Metz is well located next to DJ Smith Memorial Park in the Canungra high street and has a cool shady deck for dining in....I chose the delicious pumpkin frittata with a generous side salad and my husband had a BLT on thickly sliced Turkish bread... yum! The Merlo coffee was strong and silky smooth; the perfect recharge we needed after several hours of driving. Highly recommended!More
