Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After exploring Ainokura, we decided to stay for lunch. The food was excellent value, and the Matsuya special (tempura, if I remember correctly) set was delicious, with a few extras that I hadn't expected. Service was a bit stretched, but we were happy to wait in such a great setting.

There are many eating places in Ainokuraguchi. Despite the near-monopoly operation, Matseya has not taken advantage of the visitors. Fresh ingredients, generous portion and delicious food. While waiting for food, you can browse through its souvenir shops.

We visited this quant village and stopped in for lunch. The setting in this restaurant was so inviting that we ended up devouring the Matsuya special for ¥1650. So much food but all so delicious! The host was so friendly! Anywhere else this amount of food would have been double the price. We never needed any dinner that night as we were still satisfied from our lunch.

This little place is a restaurant, a coffee shop, a souvenir shop all in one. It opens daily till 5pm I think. We had soba noodles there for lunch on our first day in Ainokura. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I had Soba noodles, tempura and a load of other stuff. It was located next door to our Minshuku house. We also had some very good coffee in the afternoon after our walk through the village and the next day we bought souvenirs!

For about ¥1000+, I had a huge basket of awesome yasai tempura, and a huge portion of soba!! The tempura was not oily and was light to the palette, and the cold soba was so absolutely refreshing. It was truly an unforgettable meal in the quiet town of Ainokura. The proprietor was very kind. She let me sit in there for a really long time and asked if I'd like to fill my hot water bottle with some hot tea :) thank you so much for your hospitality and awesome food!!!

We got to Matsuya at 12:30 and were served immediately. The menu has pictures and it is easy to understand what you're having. We've orderedthd Matsuya special , 1650¥ and it was filling. Great food!

On a whim we tried the fermented rice drink amazake, hot. It was like a drinkable rice pudding. Other items on the menu looked interesting too but we had already paid for a meal where we were staying. The place seem to close around 5:30 the day we were there.
