Skied to this great little restaurant for morning tea as I had read that they served Nespresso coffee. I wasn't disappointed and the banana and chocolate freshly baked muffin I devoured, was delicious.

Hi Dianne, we really appreciated having you in the restaurant, thanks for your great feedback. See you next winter.
Without doubt this exquisite mountain hideaway offers quite simply the most amazing food and atmosphere Echigo Yuzawa has to offer. We have been to this phenomenal restaurant on numerous lunchtimes and dinners and have never had an average dish - every single platter is cared...for with love and precision and offers daily mouthwatering menu supporting local and organic ingredients all naturally sourced - including the chicken! A dinner party is however a real treat - crossing the slopes which are illuminated at the weekends is both romantic and mythical. Awaiting guests with open arms are the most friendly and wonderful hosts Jodie and Nathan, Jodie offers her charm, heartwarming smile and precision service while Nathan is typically hard at work like a bald Merlin conjouring up his dishes. Children are also encouraged to join dinners and meals can be taylored accordingly - if they behave! Hiragi’s prices are more than affordable as Nathan’s love for cuisine outweighs any need to make a profit - customers always come first. Of particular note it Nathan’s world famous “Apple Snow” which has been the pudding of high acclaim for many years and was even recommended for a Michelin culinary award!More

My husband and I first found out about Hiragi through friends and after our first visit we quickly became regulars. The food is delicious and the hosts soon make you feel as family in so many ways! We are hooked!
Found this hidden gem while traveling through Japan, the people running it were fantastic and the atmosphere and food was amazing, can’t wait to go back.
If you are visiting the Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort in Niigata put Hiiragi Restaurant in Hatsukaishi on your must-visit list. The quaint lodge-like eatery nestled between ski lifts is run by a lovely Australian couple - one is a jovial gourmet chef and the other...is a beautiful Feng Shui master. Together they provide hearty, delicious, affordable food and family-friendly service. It's the perfect place for a mid-slope pit stop or a full course dinner. You won't find anything this good for miles!More
Our visit to Hiiragi Restaurant was a highlight of our stay in Japan’s Snow Country. Our hosts Nathan and Jodi made us feel right at home as they are also Aussies. Our meal was amazing combining fresh Japanese ingredients with innovative concepts from Nathan’s culinary...background in Australia. The restaurant itself is also gorgeous with its traditional wooden interior and high ceilings. Thanks to Nathan and Jodi for making our family feel so welcome...we will visit again soon!More
I have been for dinner and the place was perfect. Excellent food, friendly people and unique location in the middle of the snow. Definitely I have to go there soon!
Nathan and Jody run a nice restaurant with good food and a great atmosphere. They have a mystery lunch menu which has never disappointed yet. Their home made deserts are also always a winner.
Hi Ennoa thanks for the great review! You're welcome anytime for lunch or dinner.
