Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff and delicious pizzas. Look forward to returning in the coming weeks to have some more delicious tapas. In my world you can never eat enough pasta !!

If you’re not sure what you want to eat, Via Fratelli offers a variety on its menu. And while you’re thinking about it, try the warm olives! Or any other smaller ‘tapas’ from the starters menu. After perusing the menu, you can choose to have...a steak, Chicken Parma, fish of the day or pasta & risotto. Or maybe you feel like a wood fire pizza?! Prices are reasonable for this family-friendly venue. The service is also very good. Our friend’s 7 year old grand-daughter adored the food - especially her pizza! The staff graciously offered a small ‘take-away’ box for the leftover pizza when she realised she couldn’t finish it!More

Good in some ways not good in others. The menu is I think the same the food is good. The service is lacking. Staff are good at walking by without looking at the occupied tables. It’s not the same as it was once was.

I have just celebrated a significant birthday at this restaurant. The food was plentiful & reasonably priced. My wife & I both had very tasty home made pasta dishes, followed by delicious deserts. The corkage for our special bottle of wine was a reasonable $8....The vibe was fantastic here - a real buzz about the place. A wood fired oven providing a warm space on a cold winters night. The pizzas looked very inviting - next time. The service was excellent, with very attentive staff. I even got a lit candle on my desert as recognition of my birthday. We have been to most of the Italian restaurants in the Malvern area over many years. This place is near the top of the list. We will definitely be back.More

The waiters and kitchen staff were not using mask that is mandatory by Victoria Health Covid regulation. Very disapointed. We are not going back therel, although we were happy with the food.

Saturday night and this place was buzzing. Went with a group of 8 and service was good without being overbearing. Good Italian fare - although there were some doubts about whether the place was actually run by Italians... Pizzas and pasta are their staples but...they do have a few other main course choices. Wine list is limited but we brought our own bottle - corkage $8 per bottle.More

They put us outside which was fine but the 3 of us had one table and a large family with very young children had the other. As they ran around eating their pizza bumping into my partners jumper and leaving red sauce on it no...one seems to care. The pizza was soggy and we could only have a couple of pieces. When they asked how was everything we told them and they said well it is a family restaurant. We have been to many FAMILY restaurants and we have never had this happen let alone the staff comment like that. Won’t be going back and will let others know as well.More

Restaurant great for children and adults. Food was terrific and came reasonably quickly which is wonderful when you have three hungry children to satisfy plus four adults. BYO wine but plenty of assorted drinks on the list at fair prices. Pizza plus other Italian dishes...to choose from. Lovely staff.More

It might look like your regular average pizza/pasta restaurant, but Via Fratelli is above that. The food is always really, really good and the service is pretty much always spot on. It's a very casual restaurant, and certainly not fine dining, but if you're wanting...that good, comforting and homely meal, that's what you'll get here. While I usually have their gnocci (which is always soft and beautiful) and have tried a chicken pizza once (and thoroughly enjoyed it), the last time I went, I ordered their special which was a homemade roasted pumpkin, sage and ricotta ravioli, with a delicious sage butter and cream sauce. It was delectable and yum. The bottom line is that with everything they have on their menu and the great service and reasonable prices, if you're after a reliable good, casual Italian meal, then this is the place. Lot's of parking on the street and a lot of space inside for a meal for two or a big party of even up to 20 or so.More

I walked down the road from my hotel, and found this place. It smelled great and was quite busy even early on a Sunday night. I was delighted with the menu options, and went with my favourites: Matriciana, Pinot Grigio and tiramisu. Sadly, the pasta...was undercooked (I know fettuccine can be tricky to time perfectly, but guys, you’re an Italian restaurant!) and the sauce over-seasoned. It was a very large serve with a generous amount of bacon and the obligatory freshly grated cheese. The wine came from my favourite region in Italy, but was served luke-warm. It tasted ok (I even had a second glass) but I would have preferred it chilled. By the time the tiramisu came, I was a bit concerned. I’m a very harsh critic with this dish. It was perfect! A decent size portion with exactly the right proportions layered elegantly. It was beautifully textured and not too sweet. Absolutely outstanding! The staff were attentive but not intrusive, and very pleasant. I really wanted to give Via Fratelli a higher rating but for undercooked pasta and warm wine, I just can’t. Go there for the tiramisu though!More

Rice in the arancini overcooked and stodgy. Penne overspiced. Rocking fillet was tiny therefore overpriced. Beef ravioli was nice but had ham strips through it, which i didn't see on the menu. Brulee was lovely. Pizza was good.

This was my first time. I picked this restaurant based on other reviews as I am not from this area. I rolled up on a Saturday night to order takeaway pizza. The restaurant was full and was busy. I ordered my pizza and sat and...waited watching the other patrons receive their meals. The food looked good and there was a nice atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised that my pizza was ready in 15 minutes, considering how busy it looked. I ordered a capricossa, with added pineapple. Also a small soft drink which took my total bill to almost $25.00. Probably a bit expensive for takeway pizza I know, particularly for Melbourne where you can get a lot cheaper takeaway pizza. They hit me up with the extra pineapple and drink. The base initial price was at about $18.00, so the extras were expensive - but it is a restaurant I guess, where soft drink prices are always high and this is not really a traditional type takeaway venue. However, having said that my pizza was delicious. Thin base and fresh, soft taste. High quality ingredients, particularly the ham I noticed wasn’t the cheap shredded stuff you sometimes find. Less is best on a best with topping on a pizza. The mix was just right. Too many toppings can make a pizza sloppy, gluggy and too heavy. This was not. I think they nailed it perfectly. I really enjoyed it and will come again, next time to experience the eat in option. Staff were friendly and courteous.More

Hmmmm sorry I didn’t take any notice. I ordered drinks directly from the bar. I’ve eaten there since and I ate in. The food was still good
