We arrived for lunch one Thursday and were slightly surprised at how busy it was. The cosy bar was full of diners so we ordered our drinks and went down stairs to a spacious dining room. What a delightful room, looked like an old stone barn with vaulted ceilings and beams, tastefully decorated with Christmas garlands. We were seated by... More

Booked in a large party and had a nice meal although the area we were in was quite cramped. Staff very polite and friendly as was the bar staff with a good choice of real ale.

We'd been invited to the Cook and Barker for a celebratory evening. We were spread out among the restaurant, bar and function area which was fine with the easy going staff. The area around the bar is a bit cramped, but not a deal breaker. The restaurant which looks to be where the money is made is large, but still... More

We went for a lunch with a friend Easy parking directly outside Warm and comfortable surroundings, log fire Attentive service Very inventive and interesting menu, with 2 and 3 course fixed price menu - but the food was far better than the usual pub or restaurant offerings for fixed price menus We did not drink alcohol as we were driving... Visited on a Thursday evening - not packed but still busy. Excellent and varied menu provided quite a challenge to choose from. Excellent standard throughout at very reasonable prices for this level of quality dining.

We stayed on a Saturday night having booked a dinner, bed and breakfast rate for a refurbished executive room. The room was in the annex at the rear and was more an average hotel room than executive. That said the staff were friendly and helpful and the dinner and breakfast were absolutely first class. Tasty local produce was brought to... More

We didn't book and it looked busy but we got a table. Beef Sunday dinner and vegetarian Sunday dinner was delicious. Staff were all really friendly. Would definitely go back :)

We visited Saturday lunchtime without notice as a family of eight. We were accommodated easily with the very friendly bar staff accommodating us as our group gathered. Lovely beers, nice wine and fabulous food. Great country pub with meals far above pub food quality - definitely bistro standard. Eight fed with two courses for seven of us (daughter preferring starter... More
