My wife and I decided to make our Saturday shopping trip to Tesco a little different by including a lunch at The Cook & Barker. It really made our day! The place itself is a cosy pub, with a hotel, in beautiful surroundings. For most folk, it will involve a drive out but it really is worth it. Meals can... More

Popped in here to have lunch first week in January and what a great find. Very welcoming and friendly staff and the Mon-Fri lunch menu was fantastic, 2-course lunch for £10! Considering the choices included pheasant and Sea Bass and very nicely presented, I think this was a steal, no wonder the place was busy even in early January. If... More

The Cook and Barker have served excellent food for many years and never fail to impress . The big restaurant room is impressive and the smaller areas are comfortable with a homily touch . I've never stayed there but the rooms look lovely . Well worth visiting

My mum organised a 21st birthday meal for me here as a surprise. It was great. The staff had organised the table with a balloon and flowers, confetti and a birthday cake. The food was amazing. So much of it and great value. I had a really lovely birthday lunch. The extra birthday touches made it even more special. It... More

steak pie to die for, the bosses chicken was awesome and a picture on a plate. Plenty chips and veg to share. Still one of my favourite eating places with an extensive menu plus a 2 courses for a tenner menu which looked excellent value. Place was really busy for a Friday lunchtime but the two ladies working were pleasant... More

I feel awkward writing reviews for places that are as small/local as Cook and Barker. Its not like writing a review for a big restaurant in town, it feels a lot more personal. I went for lunch here on reccomendation. Food: The stilton chicken was absolutely incredible, such a rich taste!! I wish I had ordered it for myself. The... More

Went yesterday, had Sunday lunch Christmas after menu, what a treat. It was great value and we were a party of eight, Sat in the lounge room which was actually quieter than the main restaurant, which is also very nice. Beautiful meal very tasty. I had smoked salmon and hollandaise with poached egg on toast..waitress apologised as they had run... More

Spent a lovely lunchtime here excellent food and service in spite of the restaurant being full when we arrived. Our table was booked in advance and the service and attention were great. A very enjoyable meal served quickly after order was placed.

I attempted to use the table booking service on The Cook and Barker restaurant website, and received an email saying: "Hi (my name) Thank you for requesting a table at the Cook and Barker Inn Restaurant A member of staff will confirm your booking directly. -- This e-mail was sent from a table booking form on Cook and Barker" After...
