we stayed for two nights following a spell in hospital. A lovely relaxing time with incredibly helpful staff. Just what the doctor ordered!

Our dinner for starter and main plus coffee ( no alcohol) was £30 each. The bistro is fine, not flash or fancy . The staff were very efficient and pleasant. The menu is in such small type that I should have taken my glasses and the happy hour is a bit of a con as only certain dishes are available... More

Pleasant rustic bar area where we had our lunch including carrot soup and cheese sandwiches together with French Chardonnay from Loire's valley with lovely home made crisps . They welcome dogs in their bar. But our westie wanted to go to their dining room... All together very enjoyable lunch. Recommended.

The Pheasant `hotel is easy to find - go to the top of Bassenthwaite `Lake, and you're nearly there. The food is good, and so is the bar, which has NO TELEVISION. The sitting-room has log fires in cold weather. No juke boxes or other gadgets to be found.

We have been regular patrons and the food is always excellent, but on our last visit we were very disappointed by the quantity of the portions. The food was still very good, but it was visibly smaller portions (both meals) than is the normal amount.

We called in on spec after rejecting an unacceptable table at the nearby Distillery. Although we arrived in the middle of lunch the waiter hustled around until he found us a spot. The food was excellent and value for money. We go often for this reason and the lovely child friendly atmosphere in the bistro.

New Years Eve lunch at the Pheasant surpassed its self. Food is always good but this was exceptional and as we both opted for the three corse special also excellent value. We shared a ham hock terrine and a cheese soufflé to start. The terrine was nice but completely out done by the gorgeous soufflé. We both has the shepherds... More
