Invited by friends who's son had been there and said it was good. From the moment we walked in the door it was like you were a regular, owner chef came out and spoke, and did so throat the night. Small place nothing fancy. Menu...was choice of 2 or 3 courses but you had a choice of 4 entrees a nd some deserts and then depending on which steak you chose the price was based on that. We had several different dishes ,all were excellent including the salads. Wine list was small, well priced (comparatively cheap compared to even pubs these days) very well chosen. Also some lovely red wine glasses to drink from. BYO $16 a bottle which i am happy to pay to be able to bring a decent bottle out of my cellar. Highly recommend, definately be back when i want a steak. Bonus oarking no problem in area.More

Possibly one of the best red meat meals I have ever had. Portions just right and everything was perfectly cooked and presented. I had the mixed entree , Asiette, to start with and followed it up with the Eye Fillet. The wine list is very...smart with an obvious detailed knowledge of what goes well with the food. The owner has found the balance between providing immaculately prepared food and an affordable yet intelligent wine list. If you are looking for a great steak with a nice red in a warm and friendly environment this ticks all the boxes.More

Luckily we were prepared for the prices at this restaurant, the emphasis is on the set menu and vegetarian or fish alternatives are only available with prior warning. A limited wine list and water was available only on a "self serve" basis, as it was..."busy". The steaks were good and cooked to order and there was a limited choice of side dishes. Service varied between the wait staff, but it was nice that the chef acknowledged us when he had time. Not as good as expected.More

My husband and I eat meat. This was the best steak I’ve had in years. Both perfectly cooked just how we asked. Served with a smile and helpful staff and a visit to the table from the master meat cooker himself. Would highly recommend not...to miss out on this gem.More

We were excited to finally done at this restaurant but that were it ended. When you pay$250 for 2.5 pax then you expect a level of service and quality food. - You need to help yourself if you want water- at room temperature and they...will only serve ice if you order a drink. NOT with water. - don't dare tell them that your eye fillet does not taste right or that your mash is lumpy when supposed to be buttery and smooth. You will receive attitude from the waitress, believe she may be the part owner. - you are told that even if you do t eat your meal you will still pay full price - you are told that you are the only person that has complained. Obviously they have not read all the reviews. Then we were told that she will open the door so we can leave I think that means that we are being kicked out of the restaurant. Please note owners - people complain or give feed back for a reason. Take note otherwise it's a tough industry and you will not be in business for long if you keep treating your customers this way. When you pay $250 for 2.5 pax you expect a level of service and quality. You are there to provide a service hence why it's called hospitality. We have never experienced anything like tonight and hope we never do again!!!!More

My husband and I came here with my best friend and her partner for our Christmas catch-up. This was our first (and last) visit to this restaurant. We did not have an allocated waitress so during the course of the evening all the wait staff...would drop by every 2-3minutes to ask us if we were done.......REALLY??? Very annoying indeed. When we were seated the waitress didn’t explain the way they worked their menu, ie set menu included an entree, a main and a dessert with tea or coffee. We did not realise this until the very end of the night, or was it suggested when we were ordering. Anyway, for entree I had the croquettes (3) which were ok and served with a runny sauce that was supposed to taste cheesy but it didn’t.... My husband had the prawn risotto which was a a pile of rice a quarter of the size of my palm (yes that’s true!) with 6 small prawns around it.....ok but nothing flash. My friend had bruschetta which was ok, too much balsamic vinegar over a slab of feta...? Her friend had the ribs which were too sticky, too sweet and the sauce completely drowned the ribs flavour. For mains we all had steak, mine was cooked medium when I asked for medium rare but I couldn’t be bothered complaining! My husband ordered beef and reef scotch and it came with 3 prawns on top of the steak and the whole thing drowned in hollandaise sauce! Also my husband doesn’t like gravy and he didn’t order it, but it was all over his mashed potato! I actually think they made a mistake with his gravy because the rest of us did order gravy and it came separately in a small bowl like it should. All the steaks at this restaurant are served with mashed potato which isn’t exactly smooth and creamy like mash is supposed to be. None of us felt like dessert so we just ordered tea and coffee. When the waiter (we think he was the owners son) took our coffee orders he asked if we wanted dessert and we said no. Not at any stage did he even suggest it was part of the set menu nor did he recommend we order it as we would be charged for it regardless. If we had known that we would have ordered desserts! Then we received the bill. Grrr! The bill indicated set menu when we didn’t even have it so waiter got the owner (Emilio) who came over and very loudly said he was not here to play games (what the...?....and neither were we!!) and we should read the whole menu booklet before ordering, and it wasn’t up to the waitresses to explain it to us. Emilio was rude, overbearing, obnoxious and had no customer service skills whatsoever. How did he ever make it in the hospitality industry?? He humiliated my friend and I in front of other diners. I was appalled by his reaction and attitude. I will never ever go back to this restaurant. The steaks are NOT up to scratch, are overpriced and besides why would I dine somewhere where there is no decent customer service?? I will return to Meat n Wine Co in Camberwell because at least at that restaurant they are all smiles, cook perfect meat and offer an enjoyable ambience. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for steakhouses! Believe me!More
