Looked at TripAdvisor reviews & decided to eat at the white horse on our last night in Brighton, we were staying locally at Southdown camping & caravan site. Staff friendly & welcoming. We sat on a large round table near the fire. Loved the menu, something for everyone. We ordered a half portion of ham, egg, chips for our 5... More

This pub had all the elements of a quintessential English pub: good atmosphere, good hearty food and friendly staff. Johanne, who was on her own serving behind the bar and waiting tables, was the perfect barmaid and made our visit memorable because of her friendly manner. Ditchling is a lovely village and this is a good excuse to stop for... More

We enjoyed a dinner there this evening. Busy and lively if a little noisy. Good wine list. Small but interesting menu. My burger, salad and chips tasted fresh and wholesome.

We had a Sunday lunch with 20 of my family for my young sons birthday. The staff kindly fitted us in to their separate private dining area (so we didn't need to be concerned about the kids disturbing other diners). We nearly all had roast dinners which were very good, tasty and nicely presented. The only thing that let this... More

No piped music. Great staff. Good honest and tasty pub grub. No need to book. Excellent lemon tart for dessert. Worth a visit.

Couldn't fault the food. Staff don't fuss over you but that's not such a bad thing. Had fish and chips then pulled pork burger another night. Lovely. Slightly cheaper than The Bull although you don't get an itemised bill.

Came in here for a beer and ended up staying for a couple of hours. We had whitebait, scallops and cheesy chips, which were the size of jackets! Good value for money and lovely 'ambience'.

Dog friendly pub with plenty of newspapers to read and a friendly atmosphere. We had the pork and lamb roasts. Both were generous sized portions and absolutely delicious. Crispy spuds, a Yorkshire with structural integrity, tender succulent meat and lots of flavoursome veg. Just what was needed after a country walk. Can't fault it. Can't remember how much have it... First & last visit to this pub. Invited to meet with colleagues for a business meeting & a meal. Told they had WiFi, but it did not work - so presentations & meeting abandoned. Room was freezing cold so we sat with our coats on all evening. Shown menu & specials board for evening meal but many of the items... More
