Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I can confirm this place has indeed been reopened and renamed Casona Del Rey. Friendly, efficient service and good value. Good beef and mash -- potatoes plus corn with garlic -- lovely! Natural juice very good too, with sugar by default, but "sin azucar" works...wonders. We ate here twice -- this first time on a Monday it was full to bursting with locals, and on Wednesday appeared to be only tourists.More

As far as I understand this place has been renamed (?) Casona del Rey. Very simple of course but quite efficient and professional service and very nice menu, especially given the place. We tried several dishes and all were very decent. The alpaca is excellent...and many side dishes are original and delicious. The place to be in Putre!More

This is a nice little restaurant with a variety of choices at a reasonable price. I had the Alpaca,, which was cut like a flank steak and nicely seasoned. It was delicious.

There are several restaurants in town. This was a busy small restaurant. I had grilled fish. Took a long time to get the food. Fish was fine. The table had a dish to share of assorted grilled veg and a quinoa pilaf. Was all ok

Imaginative take on some Chilean staples. The quinoa risotto in particular was very good, and so were the main dishes. Note that his place is now in a new location on O'Higgins, a few doors from La Paloma.

This is actually the only restaurant worthy of the name in Putre. We therefore went to eat there twice during our 3-day stay. The decor is basic, a little bric-a-brac, but the simple dishes are tasty. The service is friendly and the prices of the...meals are very acceptable.More

When we stayed in Putre, this was certainly the best place for a meal (Came here twice). It has an interesting menu, although don't expect everything on it to be available. Friendly staff, very homely place.

Good place, good prices, generous dishes, and calm environment.... Sometimes just one waiter for 40 people, but patient and enjoy your dish. I recommend salmon, reineta and filete de alpaca!

For starters they brought out bread and salsa (typical for the area) the bread was fried but it was old and cold. We each only had one bite of the bread because it was so bad. Looking at other tables we saw the same thing....They do not have any vegetarian main dishes, they offer alpaca, beef, chicken, fish. Since I am a vegetarian I ordered a side of vegetables and a side of quinoto. My husband wanted the alpaca, but they were out of the alpaca, chicken, and most of the fish dishes. He ended up ordering the nortina pizza. After ordering we found out they were also out of quinoto so we ordered a nortina salad as well. The vegetables were good but were sauteed in butter so very rich. The pizza was not great. The dough seemed like dough that was frozen and then reheated or it was prebaked and then the toppings were just added on. The pizza was just above room temperature - not even warm. We ordered drinks as well but we did not receive them until after we got our food. The nortina salad never arrived at the table. For two small bottles of water, one side of vegetables and one small pizza we paid $7,600 + tip.More

Their menu is quite extensive and you must choose well. The first day we ordered Nortino salads, which were good, with quinoa and goat cheese, but not green leaves of salad. The second day we ordered pizzas, which were just OK. I ordered a chicken...bread with avocado and tomato which were perfect. We also ordered a llama steak to share, which was tough as nails.More

It was the restaurant we chose for our two nights in Putre. The place is clean and cozy, the decoration is quite nice. The food is ok but not fantastic, but the bread they serve as a starter is great.

... although that's against a low baseline, all other places are very ordinary in terms of what they offer (at least during early-January low season). Generally food is very good and interesting. The main reason I'm not giving it a 5 is that it's a...bit inconsistent. Four of us dined there three nights in a row. Each time someone had the alpaca fillet. Two times it was very good: slightly gamy, red meat, a bit like venison or kangaroo, done medium-rare to medium (definitely at the done-end of where you want to have it). The third time it was a very big piece that was definitely not fillet and was tough like shoe sole. The grilled fish (reineta – southern rays bream) was very good, firm meat, still moist. Ceviche perunano (fish cured in lemon and fish juice with lots of onions, a Norther staple) was very nice, and came with tasty, big, light-coloured corn kernels. The standout was the quinoto – a risotto-style side dish made from quinoa, was excellent each time (of three), and we'll be trying to do it at home, a real revelation. Nice flavour and consistency. Also consistently nice was the verduras salteadas (stir-fried veges), which were fine julienne-style, crunchy carrots, greens (incl some variant of pumpkin). One of us is a teetotaller and ordered juice each time. The first time he was only offered some bottled OJ, but the third time there was strawberries and passion fruit on offer. He chose the latter and a fair wait was rewarded with beautifully flavourful, freshly-squeezed (although sweetened) juice.More
