It’s the tourist central of the city with a liberal dose of rich history, iconic eating and drinking joints and artistic connections that have found prominent mentions in Gregory
David Roberts’ Shantaram. Stroll down Colaba Causeway for kitschy street shopping
bargains. Take a break at the many laid-back legendary bars & restaurants like Cafe
Mondegar or Leopold Café. The vibrant vibe of Colaba is incomplete without the buzz at
Mumbai’s most iconic tourist hub, Gateway of India & The Taj Mahal Hotel on the parallel lane. Sprinkled with designer boutiques, quaint cafes with rooftop sea view, the promenade is a popular route to go to Elephanta Caves & Alibaug.

The Gateway of India is iconic as you can see this in many pictures, postcards, movies etc. It is opposite the Taj Mahal hotel and attracts many tourists everyday. They offer ferry rides also to Ajantha Caves and Alibaug from here.
Visited Alibaug on a day trip recently and took the PNP ferry from Gateway to Mandwa and back. The ferry to Mandwa in the mid-morning was on time and it was quite packed being a Saturday. The return ferry in the evening was a few minutes late. The seating is comfortable and the cabin is airconditioned. There are speedboats that...
This is must see point in case you are planning South Mumbai tour esp around Gateway of India . You can take a taxi from GOI to this place for less than Rs 100 . The church has historical importance and has beautiful glass works.
Lovely venue on the rooftop of the tower wing at the Taj hotel. Views aren't quite as good as we hoped because whilst sitting down there is an outside railing that obstructs but OK if you stand up.
Great Lebanese cuisine and very attentive and helpful waiters, especially John who guided us through the menu with ease, having worked for...
Beautiful setting with views over the sea and Gateway to India monument.
Hi tea is between 3.00 and 6.30 and is ideal for anyone that does NOT then want to have an evening meal!
The choice is amazing- home made chocolates, pastries, sandwiches and 'meals' and beautifully presented.
The 'live' pianist playing as we ate added a sense of special...
We came here on the recommendation of a friend and it was a great meal but incredibly expensive compared to meals of similar quality that we had elsewhere in Mumbai. The lotus root chips and xiao long bao were delicious, the rest of the food nice and obviously good quality and the wines had a great selection but the cost...
This restaurant was one of the most recommended during our recent trip to Mumbai. So, we went ahead and made a reservation. I must say how good a decision that was as we were truly satisfied by our visit. The food presentation and choices are amazing, the ambience is warm and inviting. Must visit for lovers of good food.
I was staying in Taj and my last evening in Mumbai I had a dinner in this restaurant. I was sitting at the table by the window and a view at India Gate was really magnificent. The food was delicious, the people're professional and polite, the prices are high. Probably the visit didnt exceed my expectations but there was no...
We were return visitors to the Taj and its magnificent architecture, rich history, elegantly appointed public spaces and rooms and charm are a delight. It is truly special. However what makes the Taj experience outstanding is the commitment and dedication of the entire team to the comfort and well being of its guests. We would particularly like to recognize Ms....
Talking about food at shamiana, The atmosphere is charming. Warm and welcoming surroundings. The choice of food is lovely. The portions they say are small, but 2 give a varied and very adequate meal. The cooking of every element was impeccable, and the price was very reasonable.
Our favorite restaurant in our area.
We stayed here for three nights and found it beautifully clean with very spacious bedrooms and perfectly positioned to visit all the places we had on our itinerary in Mumbai. The staff were helpful and kind and I enjoyed a breakfast where I could avoid spicy food! Good value for the location and we had a very enjoyable time.
Stayed for a couple of nights - room quite small but clean and functional. Quite noisy both inside and outside hotel - windows could be better at blocking sound.
Staff helpful when we were both unwell.
Can’t comment on food as didn’t get that far!
Only a few minutes walk from Gateway to India
Great location in the Colaba district of Mumbai. Safe walking distance to a variety of restaurants and also to the Gate of India. Street markets also very near. Comfortable clean hotel with helpful staff.
