Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
Excellent cultural center in an excellent location and free. For me is the best place in Rio to visit for an exposition and other cultural events, like theatre, cinema, instalations with a excellet restaurant (Colombo) and a very good café. It's a triple excellent place.
Small restaurant. Simple menu. Fantastic food. French cuisine in Rio that is excellent quality. This chef knows how to make his sauces ! The creme brulè is amazing ! A great find off the main tourist trail.
It's really hard to find this place, but, boy oh boy, does it worth it (tip: It's on the second floor of some random mall). Actually this was the only place I was able to find decent coffee beans packs in Rio. The stuff was very hospitable, they even opened the shop sell us coffee on Saturday although it's non-working...

"Amazing fillet mignon "
reviewed 24 February 2020 by ColleenP367
We came here for lunch after seeing all the great reviews and definitely weren't disappointed. Garlic bread, fillet mignon and banana curros was fantastic! The staff were friendly, English menu and had great suggestions on different sauces to go with which meal!
Definitely worth a visit!!
Great hotel, excellently location and great pool at the rooftop, with an incredible view!
Staff is great! Alex at the reception and Nicolau at the pool bar were great! Great restaurant and breakfast as well!
Location close to the airport is perfect!!
This was my second stay at this lovely classic hotel. This time I booked a room in the old part of the hotel. It’s was spacious with lovely views of the pool area. I would suggest you book an upstairs room as you have more privacy and can leave your windows open. The WiFi was super fast and the room...
The hotel is nice, spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast includes breads, charcuterie, fruit and some hot items. But best of all is its location! One block from the Nat’l Fine Arts Museum and the Municipal Theatre! And two blocks from Lapa— lively parties and dancing! This is a hidden gem!

We recommand this hotel : the staff is english speaking, welcoming and helpfull. The location in a lively area surounded with shops, bars and restaurant is very nice. Rooms are small but correct and the breakfast buffet is pretty good !
Noisiest hotel I have ever been to. You get what you pay for. Not much. Either the guests in other rooms where yelling at night ir the traffic outside wouldn’t give you any rest Very shady neighborhood with lots of homeless people and people smoking weed at any corner. Breakfast was acceptable. Never again.
