Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
Kishimojin (Hariti) was originally a Persian (Iran) child eating demon, who converted to Buddhism and wowed to protect the faithful and especially children. This deity is hence very popular among expecting mothers and those with small children. The place has been indicated by UNESCO as a world heritage mo. If you are in the area

"Go for the view, queue for VR rides, nice relaxing spot"

If you find yourself in Sunshine City Ikebukuro, this is the observatory at the top. The place is built with interactive installations through the walk around the building but I think the best view you get is the very first set of windows as you walk through the circus tent entrance.
There are some VR rides and games in the...
So cute Xmas Tree that is so original! With Jellyfish at entrance , with Fishes at shopping mall and with Penguins at Aquarium! What a fantastic idea with so much details! We are so happy to see them and enjoyed ourselves! Thank you 😊
Buffet lunch @1800yen is really value for money with fresh chuck roll and nice purple sweet potato ice-cream. Staffs are really friendly and able to communicate in English well. Chosen collagen soup but was rather disappointed as tasted bland and we almost finished the salt provided at the table. Perhaps we have the habit to drink soup but it seems...
I came here for lunchs and dinners a few times last November. I am back here again this November for the delicious fresh Otoro at a very reasonable price. Two sets with Otoro, Chu Toro, Uni, hand roll and beer cost ¥3,500/- in total. The only downside is the long Q. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes.
Get there an hour early ... play on your phone and get over it, this wait’s worth it. A wonderful full bodied ramen - the broth has depth, roundness and spice - noodles are chew-licious (get the extra serving or die w regret) pork perfect, luscious perfectly soft boiled egg, flavorful sides. I ordered, but was not as taken w...
We spent several days at Kimi after skiing. The location was great - an easy walk to well connected train and subway station. The room was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful and friendly. Best of all, after leaving my airpods behind, they graciously organised for them to be posted back to me - much appreciated!
With the mezzanine/bunk bed you really feel the size of the room. It is much bigger than your regular hotel rooms in Tokyo.
The check-in and out process was very cool and easy to use. It is very close to the train station and a short ride to Shibuya and Shinjuku. Would come again.
We stayed in the superior room with queen size bed. The room size is slightly bigger than a standard hotel room in Tokyo. Room is comfortable but not great. One side of the bed is against the wall and this may affect some people who are used to have space on the side of the bed. There is no English...
Followed the other reviewers’ advice, the hotel is easily assessable from exit C6 on the West exit of Ikebukuro station. We were in Tokyo during New Year holidays and decided to stay in Ikebukuro area as we’re concerned that most shops may be closed in other areas. The surroundings of the hotel seems quiet (probably due to New Year holiday)...
It was a good experience, it was my second time and it's still a very good place to live. The staff is some of the funniest people you can meet and they clean it every day.
I have nothing to complain about
