reviewed 25 September 2019 by Ann C
While walking through the Dongdaemun City Park I accidentally came across the Seoul City Wall Museum.
Excellent staff, answer questions and provide brochures in English.
The museum has both a permanent exhibit and a special exhibit hall. The day I was there the special exhibit was Changuimun in Jeong Seon's paintings. Jeong Seon was a prominant painter in Joseon. The...

A very short walk from Dongdaemun Station Exit 1, Seonggwak Park offers a lovely view of Heunginjimun Gate and Dongdaemun Design Plaza. A short walk along the wall brings you to the Seoul City Wall museum (open Tues - Sat 0900-1900). View at night was wonderful and only a handful of other people in the park. Nice benches along the...
Counter service was friendly.
I was hoping for something more substantial as a snack vs only pastries. The pastries offered were of good quality.
Quiet spot located in a side alley of sorts off of a busy street.
Stayed 5 nights October 2019 in a superior family room, location is good with Jongno 5 metro station(exit 12) only a 2 minute walk, there is a 7/11 and Starbucks right on the door step. The Gwangjang food market and the Dongdaemun shopping district are within a few minutes walk.
When checking in I asked for a second Keycard only...
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during my time in Seoul. I really enjoyed the stay. The hotel is located a little out of the traditional touristy area but is quite close to a lot of the main sites. It is very walkable to the palaces, Jongmyo shrine and Dongdaemun. It is also really close to a metro stop...
The entire facility is new, clean and well maintained. I stayed in a standard double, which is more spacious than I expected. The gym is quite remarkable. It would be the best-equipped among all the hotels in Seoul.
In terms of location, Travel Monster is great, less than 5 mins walk to Jongro-5-ga station and also near many bus stops. However, it is in a small alley, and at night looks a little dodgy (we got weird looks walking into it) since there are no lamps and its next to a karaoke and some other entertainment-type place.
