This district is suitable for settling down. The Tainan Train Station is situated in this district and the transport hub. Behind the train station stands the tallest building in Tainan. There are department stores and hotels surrounding the station. Furthermore, the National Cheng Kung University and its green area cover a vast area of land. The district, therefore, sends out an academic, yet relaxed atmosphere. The alleyways on Dasyue Road near the university are filled with restaurants and shops offering exotic cuisine. It is a quiet getaway in the hustle and bustle of the city. The Banyan Garden and the green area are a top choice for the public to have a walk after picnic. Many foreigners visit here every year. The Old Tainan Magistrate Residence is the historic monument that is the most well-preserved and at the same time the most luxurious during the Japanese rule. The Great East Gate on Dongmen Road is perfectly in sync with the modern busy traffic. The seed museum hidden in the alleyway in the East District is a utopia that is highly recommended. As for Yongkang District, it is the biggest satellite town in Tainan. Though it is modern and busy, it has stories to tell. For those who want to have a glimpse of the history of early Tainan’s development, visit here.
Eat, see, and stay in East District/ Yongkang District
The university has a long history and one of the best universities in Taiwan. This university has a huge land area with matured trees and historic buildings dotted in the east side of Tainan Station. People from the city or even tourists are allowed on the premises to enjoy walking.
One of the gardens they have there is called “Banyan...
A beautiful park hiden in a silent community but easily accessible. The location is opposite to the Culture Center of Tainan City across a drive way. If you are nearby this area, you can visit by the way.
I love this BBQ restaurant. Been here about 5 time now over the years. The choice of food is amazing, highly recommend the pork and chicken. Wagu beef is melt in the mouth. Booking highly advised. Can’t beat BBQ and a cold beer!
beef, pork, poultry, seafood, all very well season or raw, fresh and juicy, better to make reservation on weekends and week nights. Very kind staff and good atmosphere makes it a fine dining experience even for travelers
I think this is a Taiwanese style fast food restaurant. Instead of the typical hamburger and fries, they have different combination meals. They had like curry fried chicken burger with hot noodles combo. It was very unusual combination meals like McDonald's so it was only okay for me. Most combo is around $90-120. They don't speak English there because I...
You can enjoy a delicate hot pot in a historical house~
The restaurant is photo killer~ Good food, good service, and good atmosphere! (If you like old house)
So don't expectation you can save money. But it is worth the expense. The sea food is really fresh.
The only one you should notice is the area is not easy to...
Hotel is nice but very far from the city center. Nothing going on in the surrounding area except for a party/wedding venue next door.
Transit time to the science park (TSMC) is much shorter than from the downtown hotels.
One of the best breakfast buffet that I had in Tainan. Many various kind of food, both Taiwan and western food. The bedroom is spacious and clean. The price is also reasonable. The night market is close by. Highly recommended!
The hotel is located right next to Tainan train station, and a shopping mall. The service was exceptional. We got upgraded to top floor room with stunning city view. Gym was equipped with great equipment and a room for yoga and stretch. It got a swimming pool too. Will come back once in town.
Ps., the breakfast buffet was shockingly...
We stayed in the spacious Japanese room, the rooms are well maintained, has excellent fittings and the service is great, including the breakfast serving at the restaurant. Parking is readily available too. The only downside is the location, although not too far if you’re driving, the diners and shops are quite a distance from the hotel.
Stayed one night on our short tour of Taiwan. Lovely hotel and sumptuous rooms. large and very clean with separate toilet and bath/ shower.
The breakfast room was large and also clean. Again food was of Taiwanese variety of Chinese food. Good quality but not as extensive. As we stayed only for one night. Not sure if it near the...
