Anping District is the area first developed in Taiwan. It is also the key to Taiwan’s involvement in the international community. The two famous historic monuments, Anping Fort (a.k.a. Fort Zeelandia) and Eternal Golden Castle leave behind them the traces of international trade made by various countries. Another historic monument that stands the test of time is Tree House, in which beautiful stories were created along with the running water in the canal in the course of history.
The National Museum of Taiwan History in the form of green building stands in Annan District. Next to the coastal Cihcao Dajhong Temple is the amazingly gorgeous green tunnel formed by mangroves. Moving slowly in the river course on a pipe raft, you will be greeted by hermit crabs and mudskippers. The sunlight glitters in the woods. This will be like a tranquil journey in the no-man Amazon. What comes next is Luermen River estuary. People can enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Natural Defence of the Capital and also visit the one and only temple which has two barefooted door gods of foreign descent, guarding General Jheng Chengkong, making the trip to Tainan full of stories and mysteries.

"Impressive, but does not require a lot of your time"

Actually quite amazing. The walkways through the house are impressive, and the whole structure + nature aspect was pretty thought provoking. It is definitely worth a visit. 30 minutes should about wrap it up.

"Interesting, and ignited a thirst for more knowledge about the colonial period"

It’s a very pleasant spot, and we were treated to a busker on the grounds the day we were there which was an added bonus. Some reasonably interesting interpretation material on site, but otherwise just a nice place to wander around. It led me to research more about the various colonisers, so that is a good thing.
This temple is next to Anping Fort. Don't miss the Tianhou Temple if visiting Anping Fort.
This temple is also known as the Grand Mazu Temple to worship the Goddess Mazu or Goddess of the Sea. Inside the temple there are many beautiful ornamental ornaments and statues around it.The statue of the Goddess Mazu is located in the main altar....
Personally I found this very interesting even though I'm not particularly a fan of maritime history. The ship has been restored very well and there is a lot of information throughout on it's history, both in Chinese and English. From memory, entry is only about $NT50 which is very reasonable.
"A gourmet restaurant but I was not impressed with its service and food"

I went wit my friend for celebrating her birthday, the entire food and courses are expected to be good quality, and they are. But, they can obviously do it better, this supposedly gourmet place has to put too many customer by one tappanyaki table compromising its table service and quality.
Had a birthday dinner with my friend on a Thursday, the restaurant was not packed at all. Still got a bit food left in the plate, the waitress came so close to take it away, but I stopped her in time. This happened at least three times during our meal, I gave up eventually, had like two bites of the...
My local friends took me to this restaurant and it was the best beef soup in my life. I had eaten some street food beforehand but after tasting some, i knew i had to finish the whole soup because it was so good! Amazing soup and i would like to go back
This shop is famous for their winter melon drink as they have been around for a long time. They have different kinds of flavours and toppings, which can be added to the drink.
The drinks are for take out only and they have an English menu.
I had the original flavour, which was very refreshing and not too sweet. It...
What a nice hotel that is roomy and comfortable.

I stayed here for one night in a large family group. The rooms are set out round a large open atrium area where breakfast is offered. Like any large hotels in Asia it caters for tour groups. The room was comfortable and clean and there is a 711 over the road. There is also an excellent children's play room on...
Needed a convenient hotel location to visit our Son & Wife and our new born Grandson. Move Hotel was ideal, short walk from family, modern, clean, helpful staff and a quiet location. Situated opposite open space and with good facilities for guests the hotel is recommended. As we were so close to family we had booked room only which suited...
