Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
Melbourne provides free trams around the inner city. It is clean and convenient. There are several different trams to different location which can get confusing so be sure to as tram driver if that tram goes where u want to get tp
We visited Melbourne CBD on a rainy day and wanted to kill a few hours while our accommodation was ready. This is a fabulous spot with lots to see and do. Just a few doors away is the old treasury building and that was also worth a tour.
The NGV Potter gallery speciallises in Australian art. Its collection of Australian Modernist paintings is unmatched anywhere. It has had a weakness in its indigenous collection, which is now being rectified. It has reently acquired black and white decorated cabinets from the Torres Strait islands. The NGV Potter also as some seminal dot paintings from the Western Desert. The NGV...
Love these old architectural gems. The mosaic patterned floors here are very unique definitely worth wandering over. Nice shops (bought gifts at an Alpaca shop) as well as a nice French cafe to have a coffee and enjoy your surroundings.
When the world had closed sown due to covid19 it was great to find Melbourne Gaol open. The staff were knowledgeable & wanting to share some of the gruesome stories. The goal is a great buulding in itself. The old watch house was just okay.
With all of the places to eat in Melbourne it was good to have the Trip Advisor ratings to help narrow the choices. David’s Spicy Pot is deservedly at the top of the listings. It was easy for us to pick our ingredients from the many choices. Next time we might even try some of the more arcane ingredients. We...
Not only fabulous in taste but plentiful in quantity, we enjoyed a variety of pizzas, served in a buzzing atmosphere by very friendly and attentive staff. For the quality received, prices were reasonable.
I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Luxury stay at Treasury on Collins. Lovely staff, wonderful rooms and amenities. Little touches really made this stay special - free netflix and popcorn. Buffet breakfast tasty with options for cereals, fruit, hot food, pancakes. Would highly recommend!
QT Melbourne is another great QT property. Centrally located with shopping and dining options aplenty with Pascale Bar & Grill at the entry and The Rooftop bar up top. Staff was quite helpful. Our Exec. King room was spacious with a large bathroom. Small workout room on site as well.
This review will not be typical as we were staying here when the city decided to begin implementing lock down procedures for the CoVid 19 virus. Obviously the hotel was caught in the cross hairs and had to get very creative in what they did and how they handled guests. Our flight out wasn't for 3 days yet and basically...
Adelphi Hotel isn't just another standard hotel. We stayed here for our 15 year wedding anniversary, and the staff did everything they could to make our visit feel very special. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived, and offered genuine personalized service that you don't experience in larger hotels. Our bags were promptly whisked away to our (upgraded)...
Our stay with the Radisson by far surpassed our expectations- wonderful staff, fantastic food. The rooms were impeccably kept and beds were so comfortable. The pillow menu was such a lovely touch. We had 3 rooms for our large family and the value was outstanding,
Thanks Radisson, we will see you again soon!
