A Bohemian inner-west suburb known for its alternative music scene, Newtown is a diverse community offering a multitude of restaurants, art galleries, performance spaces, thrift stores and bars. Home of some of the best live music venues in the city, shows can be found everywhere from the official theatres to the neighbourhood pubs. From its humble beginnings as a neighbourhood primarily known for its many Thai restaurants, Newtown has evolved into a foodie's paradise with a delightful array of highly innovative cuisines from around the world. It is still possible to eat on a budget, but if you crave a more sophisticated menu, Newtown will not disappoint.
It provides an insight to the history of the growth of the City/Australia. It is reasonably tidy but is beginning to deteriorate by not being properly treated. We had and evening of a jazz concert in the church yard, two hours of entertainment well attended 1800/2000hrs.
We had a great time on this tour. The guides are very welcoming and informative. Something really different to go around the arty area of Sydney and see artwork and areas you wouldn’t know existed without the guides. This was our first free walking tour but definitely will not be our last. Highly recommend - great morning
Tucked away in the back streets of Sydney's oldest streets, this small park with a difference is worth checking out. It would be a nice place to enjoy a bite to eat, if you've taken a picnic or grabbed some takeaway.
This place was really neat and wonderful, we have a habit to find small galleries or workshops for the local artists. This was not that hidden, it was right on the King Street. It was evening time I think it was right before the closing time on Thursday. We admired and loved the pieces Kerrie had created. Very unique and...
I recently celebrated my birthday at Thai Pothong and had the most amazing time, food and laughter. The staff were incredible and even made the evening special by giving me a complimentary dessert and a gift! We had a few different requests outside the banquet menu that we ordered and the staff were only too happy to accommodate!
Small cozy restaurant near the train station in Newtown. Service was friendly and we assume the owner a lovely lady was checking to make sure we are well looked after. Menu had the usual Greek fare and the food was flavorful. Ticked all the right boxes if you’re craving for Mediterranean cuisine.
Service was in a very unassuming away completely awesome. She cared, she knew the menu and was thoughtful in recommendations, knew the wines. The food was tops. Every dish was delicious with an inventive twist. Not flashy, but for the price point seriously great.
The Urban was in a fantastic location for going to a concert at the Enmore Theatre (and who knows when we will be able to do that again!) and also well-situated in terms of local pubs, breweries and restaurants.
Our Queen Studio was small but clean and with everything a single or couple would need for a short stay. Lacking...
