By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
Before getting to antiquity we saw the temporary exhibition In the Realm of the Senses by the American artist Lynda Benglis. A grand assortment, contrasting with the permanent collection.
It was a marvellous opportunity to see so many artefacts from a period that we hadn’t previously viewed.
Figurines, mostly female, are central motifs of the art eon displayed. Mostly, but...
Offers a good view of the city. Quite a long walk to the top. We took an Uber from the main city square which drove us near the top with a few steps of walking requires. There are restaurants with amazing views. Gets crowded during sunset.
We loved this museum which is far less popular than the ancient sites and museums, but just as interesting.
It covers a lot of Modern Greek history and culture with some absolutely fascinating material.
It is in a lovely neo-classical building with a nice cafe bar and balcony as well.
There are a number of marvellous aspects to atop Mount Lycabettus and this Chapel is one. Seeing it on a Sunday afternoon framed against the deep azure of the sky, we though it looked its best.
Stepping to the interior is to admire a proliferation of frescoes and icons. All silver St. George on his horse slaying the dragon is...

Waitress very helpful and extremely knowledgeable and provided excellent table service will a lovely manner. Will return when back in Athens
Well worth the visit
We went here for dinner after looking for a veggie friendly place. The place looks so cool and cozy, the food is superb (the bread, the fries and the barley pasta with truffles are all super delicious), and the waiter was super friendly.
Definitely go here if in Athens!
Every time we visit Athens, we need to eat at thus great, homely place! Why? Great food, affordable prices, hospitable and polite waitresses, clean, fast and cosy! Try the specials. I mean the daily menu: mousaka, beans, artichokes frikase, chicken snitzel with home made delicious mash potatoes, etc. good for vegetarians too!
We have eaten here twice and both times it was very good. The restaurant is nicely decorated (table linen!) and they serve every day a different menu, prepared with quality products. They explane the food they serve (also in English) and it consists of several meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Simply said: very good food ! The bread they serve...
Great little find and we loved it and visited twice. The food was good quality and really tasty and is really reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and the staff were really friendly too. Would definitely recommend.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Eugene and Rupida really know how to make clients feel welcome and to keep them happy during their stay. I stayed three nights and wished I could have stayed longer. I love all the efforts made to avoid plastic and the Greek style breakfasts. Great experience which I would recommend and repeat again!!!
As always excellent in everything and more beautiful after the recent renovation.Perfect location, many cafeterias, restaurants, theaters, bars and clubs in walking distance . Easy access to metro, buses and taxis.
My wife and I were due to stay in April this year. We booked through Booking.com, I didn’t book cancellation rate. Once Covo-19 started I emailed hotel to explain my problem. Hotel e mailed back immediately and let me cancel without any issue. Once we will be able to visit after travel restrictions are lifted . We will definitely book...
