Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

"Important place of worship"

At least Orthodoxy is keeping with the roots of the church. If you are lucky enough to witness a wedding.....it is full of ritual, crowns, incense, tying hands together and fun. I think Orthodoxy celebrates, more, the birth of Christ than dwell on his death.
An interesting contrast to its much larger and overpowering neighbour, the Metropolis Cathedral. No one is quite sure how old it is because it was build with bits and pieces of pagan temples, the marble blocks re-purposed to build a church. Well worth your time to take a peek inside and look at the artwork.
The setting is nice, especially upstairs with less noise. When you read the menu carefully, you see very few things are actually organic. A bottle of water costed way too much, otherwise ok prices, though more than Mama Tierra. I wish they did not offer plastic straws and had more organic choices. Please refuse the straw.

"Excellent wine, food & service."

All the staff who served us were friendly and highly informed on both the food and wine on offer.
The wine list is vast, but thankfully the staff were on hand to suggest wine to compliment our food.
Our main course of lamb and pork was perfectly cooked and delicious.
Effie was especially helpful, including making recommendations for the next...
This little "hole in the wall" surpassed my wildest expectation. Right behind my hotel, popped in for a quick dinner meal. Ended up eating 5 dishes and none (NONE) was not excellent. Super professional crew with great respect for each other and the guests like you typically only experience in GM-star establishments. Great value for money.

"Best falafel in Greece. "
reviewed 3 days ago by A TripAdvisor Member
And I am serious. Last time I tasted such tasty falafel was in Israel. It is pretty similar to the Israel's (I mean the whole wrap) although the falafel itself isn't that tasty ,due to the lack of the special seasoning as expected in different countries. Very delicious for a foreign dish
great location, wonderful and helpful staff, clean rooms, good wifi; our room wasn't ready when we arrived they offered us an upgrade to an available room for an extra charge or to stow our luggage for us. we opted for the upgraded room and were not disappointed a bit.
My husband & I stayed at the Electra Metropolis September 19 - 23, 2017. We had a wonderful stay in a very comfortable room - Room 829. We had a balcony and a fantastic view of the Acropolis. The sunsets were just amazing.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They arranged a car to the airport at 0330 and...
We stayed here 3 nights in August before a cruise. This is a basic hotel in a great location, with the most outstanding views from either your room or the rooftoop bar.
The hotel was very accommodating, it was clean, the A/C worked great, no complaints.
There are two quick type stores near for water, wine, beer and snacks and...
Spent two nights here at the start of our two week vacation in Greece. The hotel is older but quite comfortable. We had a junior suite which was adequate in size but had a beautiful view of the Acropolis. It was nice to have a small balcony. The location of this hotel can't be beat. We could walk everywhere ....
I loved my stay at Hermes Hotel in Athens even though it was a quick one. The rooms were very clean, a little disfunctional as the shower design made the bathroom floor wet. The location of this hotel was very convenient, near all the tourist attractions (walking distance to the acropolis) and many shops and restaurants. It was around 1...
