Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
My wife loves to visit churches an has to light a candle in every church that she goes in. We paid our admission 10 Euros each. It was well worth the money. The outside of the church is beautiful, but the inside is spectacular. Well worth a visit.
Magnificent collection of arms and armor set in a glorious mansion in a lovely park.
Tens of thousands ( literally) of beautiful objects laid out in a fantasy house.
Not what I expected to find in florence but a great place
Definitely worth visiting
The bridge is recognizable by three elegant arches, protruding pylons and those grimacing goats at the cusp of each arch. The bridge adopted the name Santa Trinita from the nearby basilica at the north end of the bridge. The bridge is embellished by four statues representing the seasons. Spring is depicted by the presence of flower blossoms. Summer is shown...
One of the larger squares in Florence. It is anchored by the Basilica of the same name which is a must-see. There are plenty of places to sit. Seems to be a popular area. Across from the train station.

By far one of the most sumptuous lampredottos I have ever tasted. I mostly go with the classic version. But hey also have some varieties depending on the day. Moreover things to be tried here are the poppa and the tongue (sounds strangebut trust ,me they are delicious.) If you are around piazza tanucci this is the place to eat....
I loved how our dinner started with the server explaining how they try to reduce their carbon footprint by using edible plates made with oats. the bisteka was delish. Moist and juicy and perfect with a drizzle of olive oil and some sea salt. The pomodoro Sauce they serve together with the bread was divine as well.
We booked Market Urban last minute after being disappointed by another hotel, on arrival we were kindly given a free room upgrade which was stunning and only a short walk away from The Duomo and everything else
Throughout our stay we received letters and complimentary sweet snacks from the hotel, the staff were all very polite especially Giovanni at the...
This tiny boutique hotel is in a fabulous location close to the river, next to a small church on a pedestrianised road. I loved the (unexpected) suite, with a seating area by the windows and the nightly open air concerts in front of the church...sipping chilled prosecco in comfort and air con.

We arrived after getting married in secret just us two in Tuscany and Umbria, the Corona virus was now putting the whole of italy in shutdown and our journey had police checks, cancelled flights leaving us stranded by BA and an uncertain stay and an even more uncertain journey home the next day.
The moment we arrived we were treated...
Stunning hotel, our room was elegant and classy, very specious. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had-lots of choice: fruit, cereals, cheese, cold meats, cakes, breads, pastries, salads and then you can choose a hot breakfast also-I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, French toast and pancakes-all yummy!! Staff so helpful and kind, really couldn’t have asked for...
