Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
Popular Square in front of the Pantheon. Pretty fountain and obelisk are in the center of the square. This focal point / fountain was first built under Pope Gregory XIII in 1575. The inscription on the current fountain says the fountain was "embellished in 1711 by Supreme Pontiff Clement the Eleventh".
While the plaza is nothing special, the detail on the column itself is great. History is told in relief as you wind around the column. I won;t pretend I could see and understand everything I was looking at, but as a Marcus Aurelius fan, I had to see this.
We sought this church out given that it's Rococo style is apparently highly unusual in Rome. Unfortunately the exterior was completely smothered in scaffolding. But internally it was still worth a look with some striking over-the-top Rococo features. Perhaps not worth a special trip unless you are a dedicated collector of churches, but if you're passing...
Wonderful little square, the highlight of which are the eleven columns of Hadrian’s Temple. Sit down at one of the bars and enjoy the buskers playing in the square. Each evening there is a light and audio show beamed on the columns which map or the story of the square through the ages. A wonderful place to enjoy the atmosphere...

We got two sandwiches and two medium plates as well as two glasses of prosecco, that total was less than 30 euros!
Everything was nothing short of amazing but beware, there’s quite the wait to enjoy such an amazing meal.
Excellent value sandwich shop that sells beers a d soft drinks too. Prices start at 5 euro and the porchetta is superb. Lovely salad and soup options too. Lots of locals in the queue. Onto a good thing. Handy for food on the go when taking a wander in pantheon area
It was our fourth time in Rome and we definitely had our best experience. The Albergo del Senato offers an unbeatable view over Pantheon, we enjoyed a lot the terrace. Our room was super comfortable. What really made a difference though was the exquisite service Luca and Alessandra provided. They went above and beyond giving us great recommendations on things...
Perfect location for everything you need to see. Beautiful room overlooking the square. Peaceful hotel with lovely staff. If you like hotels with old world charm, this is perfect. Looking forward to my visit next year.
Nothing but good things to say about Stendhal Suites! Stayed at the suite 410 and it was perfect for our family of three, travelled with a teenager. The suite is facing a pretty busy street but once you get used to the noice, it was ok. The shower is luxury and the beds are really comfortable. The room has good...
I was immediately impressed with the calm and friendly service as provided by all staff at Hotel Stendhal during the recent Covid 19 lockdown during my stay. While some guests were not displaying the best behaviour, the staff never faltered. Great location, a lovely breakfast area and a serenely quiet room - all reasons for me to further recommend.
We just spent 4 nights at this lovely hotel. The room was nice. We were 3 people and each had a good sleeping space. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The hotel was very clean. They have a buffet breakfast that was lovely. It had different breads, cereal, cold cuts and cheese, pancakes, pastries, fruits, yogurt, juice, etc...so it was...
