"It is like a museum in the center of the city! A pilgrimage site for art history lovers"
reviewed 2 weeks ago by dapper777
We have visited this church many times.
It is enclosed between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, in the city center of Rome.
From an artistic point of view, the church is a tribute to France through the representation of its saints and its greatest historical figures.
Starting from the facade, you can see the statues of Charlemagne, Saint Louis, Sainte-Clotilde...
In Rome, exploring the area around Pza. Navona. Just steps away, walked into this church and the first thing I saw was the bare feet of the pilgrims in Madonna di Loreto by Caravaggio! If you are familiar with him, you may know the scandal this painting caused because of the bare feet and common-looking Madonna. I know his works...
"A splendid hidden gem of Baroque history in Rome"
reviewed 27 February 2020 by dapper777
This Baroque marvel is very hard to spot from the outside. Hidden in the porticoed courtyard of Palazzo della Sapienza, this extraordinary church is a masterpiece of baroque architecture.
However, once you peak inside the entrance located very close to the Senate of Italy, in Corso Rinascimento, you are amazed by what you see.
This Baroque church dates back to...
"Once the Baths of Nero, Now the Senate of the Italian Republic"
reviewed 15 February 2018 by Erica U
In ancient Rome, this area was the baths of Nero. During the Renaissance, a palace was built for the Medici family. It later became the seat of the Papal Governments, and now is the Senate of the Italian Republic. Although the building was constructed in the 15th century, the façade you see today was built in the mid-1650s.

Some Asians have the tendency to miss rice while out of the country and my son and I have a huge craving for asian food.
Thankful to trip advisor for the resto tip and we decided to have lunch there.
The salmon sashimi was sooo good and Super fresh. After eating our first order, we decided on a second one....
My wife and I were in Rome last week at this hotel. We cannot say enough about this place. The staff was welcoming and friendly and we felt right at home. Elenora greeted us every morning for breakfast and remembered our lattes. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many attractions. Because of the pandemic
We wanted to save money, so reserved a room for 2 near the Pantheon. Nearing the end of the winter season and at the beginning of the Coronavirus scare, when we arrived we were upgraded to a room overlooking the Pantheon at no extra cost.
Very helpful staff, comfortable room and outstanding location. Excellent soundproofing...once you closed the windows, you...

Cannot fault this hotel at all I would definitely return.
My husband and I recently visited Rome again after 8 years. Since we had seen much of the city before, we decided we wanted to stay in the Campo D'fiori area. Hotel Smeraldo fit the bill perfectly. We stayed in the updated part of the hotel. The only thing that we didn't like was the steps inside the room from...
My wife and I were in Rome a few weeks ago during the shutdown of the city because of the pandemic. This was not our hotel by choice because the hotel where we were staying closed. We were moved to this hotel. This was a great experience for us. The people were friendly and helpful during our stay. Because of...
