Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
This has definitely been one of the most enjoyable museum visits in my lifetime so far, and at a ridiculously low admission fee.
The show covers really the entire archaeological history of Spain, from the dawn of man to the modern era. The visitor intuitively travels along the timeline where ages and eras blend seamlessly. The interactive multimedia exhibits present...
In Madrid 5 nights.....on Day #4...........we spent time at Retiro and then walked to the Galdiano complex.
Admittedly....this museo was not our cup of tea.....but for others you can surely rave!
it was a tuesday AND free from 3:30 to 4:30....enough time for us.
ANOTHER plus: walking the neighborhoods to the museum was FABULOUS!
Our approach IS: perhaps you'll be...
"A magical plaza during day and more so at night "
reviewed 3 days ago by Fred G
That plaza, when all surrounding buildings are lit at night, is unrivaled in beauty with hundreds taking pictures at any time from across the plaza (it was a national holiday). The main building has a top floor with an observation point (pay) and one floor below an outside bar with an awesome view (expensive). Absolutely worth visiting from outside and...
My wife and I had the 5 course tasting menu. Once entering to departing the service was first class. Cannot praise staff enough.
Each dish was superbly presented.
Only been open 1 Year this is a cert for Michelin star(s).
If in Madrid don’t miss Etimo.
We chose this place based on reviews from TripAdvisor and would truly recommend this place. We were welcomed by the owner and chef and looked after the the waiting staff superbly. There was no menu but each time the food arrived we were more than pleasantly surprised. The menu changes but the highlights for us were the garlic soup, veal...
We visited on Friday night. The ambience is very relaxed and pleasant. We had some cocktails, appetizers, two meat main courses which were delicious and desserts that were also light and pleasant on our taste palette. Found quite bizarre the fact that there were no salads in the menu, but they were extremely flexible to prepare for us one with...
Excellent lunch within an informal setting. You can tell there are two experienced chefs in the kitchen, each plate was rich in flavour and nicely presented. Very happy with the broccoli skews and the calamaris. We will be back
Pleasantly surprised how great this small boutique hotel was. Located on a quiet residential street in Salamanca area, known for it's shops and restaurants. Loved the bathroom and the shower in the junior suite which I was upgraded to upon check in. Highly recommend!
I use this Hotels during my business trips to Madrid. It's very clean, great service staff, old fashioned luxury atmosphere and a comfortable lobby to work flexible as well perfect location in the middle of the restaurant district. I can recommend it without limitation.
From the moment I arrived at the hotel I felt taken care of by this staff. They were attentive, polite and knowledgeable. Additionally, having given my passport at check-in the staff had noticed it was my birthday without me even mentioning it and brought me a mimosa at check-in. It truly made the visit feel special especially as I was...
We spent a long weekend in Madrid and stayed in this small boutique hotel, and it didn't disappoint. The room, although small, were clean with comfortable bed and contemporary decorations, the bath room has a tub and separate shower and toilet areas. The service was very good, we arrived early at around 12 pm and our room was ready. The...
