Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
If music is your thing, particularly classical music, make this a must do part of any trip to Berlin. The hall is magnificent! There is not a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are a marvel. This is a 'theater in the round' type of hall with the stage almost in the center. We had front row seats that were...
Nearest underground Potzdamer Platz. Looks as if you are accessing a building site. Had particularly wanted to see both their Vermeers and found they were out on loan to Tokyo so disappointing. Some rooms closed as well but lots of beautiful paintings and worth a visit from medieval to about 1800 encompassing all European schools and epochs, Very quiet when...
A really interesting look at the German resistance effort during the war - lots of personal stories of incredible sacrifice. Museum is free to get in with heaps of information. Very sensitively done & moving.
One cannot be in Berlin without thinking of the past. Kathe Kollwitz was a German artist who worked in a variety of mediums. Whether it was painting, printmaking, etching, lithography, woodcuts or sculpture her works depicted the very personal cost of war and suffering. Kollwitz was the first woman elected to the Prussian Academy of Arts. The museum is in...
We had lunch here in a beautiful and tranquil setting, almost like dining in a glass house among bamboo gardens. The service was professional and efficient with a smile. The food was delicious and of fine quality. All the dishes were presented beautifully, matching the delightful ambience. The dessert was so amazing and realistic, it gave me a sense of...
I'm sitting in the dining porch at breakfast, seconds ago clicked 'five stars' and was about to write this review and the just now the chef set down a bowl of spinach he'd prepared and personally brought to my table. I can predict that the dishes will be discreetly collected within minutes of me finishing. The staff here is so...
For once a boutique hotel with excellent service! Spacious and chic rooms, quiet yet central location, exceptional breakfast buffet and an in room Nespresso machine!
An alarming trend in German hotels is bathroom sinks with no plugs, so politically incorrect and plastic bottles of water in the rooms.
My first trip to Berlin. The Mandala Hotel provided an excellent experience. A quiet space amid the Potsdamer vibe. Staff were most helpful. Close to public transportation. Appreciated being able to open the glass doors to a balcony.

A sort of a botique hotel in a street very near Kurfürstendamm strasse.
Short distance to Gedächtniskirche, Zoologischer garten and other interesting places. Two metro stations close by and not so long distance to Zoo station.
Very nice rooms, quite, clean and cosy.
Great bed, but be sure to look for the pillow that is in the cupboard if you...
