I am very sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the Mede I feel I need to address the points you made to give a balance to your review. Sadly your journey was very long and I understand you were very tired but I am the last port of call and it is then my job to try and welcome you the best I can. I would never welcome my guests in the manner that you portrayed, I take great pride in knowing that I always show great respect for all my guests. I did state that dinner had commenced and your meal choice would be limited but I did this so that you were all informed before you entered the dining room and hopefully it would make the service smoother for everyone. I was not aware of any complaint about the room while you were staying with us and I can only apologize if this was over looked, I am a bit baffled as to the smell you refered to as I have checked the room and I was unable to find anything. We do supply hairdryers and alarm clocks which are always available from reception, we used to put them in the rooms but sadly some people used to take them home with them so we decieded to keep them at reception for guests to use whenever they wanted. We ensure that there are enough staff to cover the service and we had 4 staff on duty which is enough to serve a full dining room, we will never be able to please everyone as it seems everyone wants to be served first but we do rotate the tables so everyone gets served fairly. As to the food we will always accommadate the guest and we would never say that there was nothing to replace a meal with, and I have to say that I did not have any negitive comments when I did my table checks with the guests. We do not have a lift and all the compianies we work with are aware of this, the hotel is over a 100 years old and it would be impossible to fit a lift due to the lay out of the different floors, we would almost have to rebuild the whole hotel. As I said we cannot please everyone all the time but I feel we offer excelent service and it is always with a smile. I hope you enjoy your future holidays. Thank you Jean Powell
