Located in the heart of Ipswich, the gallery is housed in a heritage listed 1861 child-friendly building.

This is the original site of historic Cooneana Homestead showing vertical slab architecture uniquely raised on stumps. Home to the Ipswich Historical Society, Spinners Weavers Fibre Artisans of Ipswich, Ipswich Genealogical Society, Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland Ipswich Area and Queensland Metal Artisans Collective, Cooneana Heritage Centre houses historical photographs and artefacts and mining displays that reflect the rich and diverse history of Ipswich. Open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10.00am to 2.00pm and on the second and fourth Sunday of each month from March to November, with the fourth Sunday often having an interesting historical presentation.
