A tasty smorgasbord highlighting the connection between aviation and history . . .
A wonderful museum packed with great planes and memorabilia. We had only an hour to spend, attempting to consume a huge feast of history and information. The rapid advances in aviation between WWI and WWII are very much on display.

    Wonderful historical museum
This is really a wonderful museum. It's chock full of planes, memorabilia and incredibly wonderful volunteers with stories to share. You could easily spend days here since there is so much to see and experience. The highlight for my husband was being inside a WWII bomber.

    A Must See
Quite the museum of older aircraft. If you are a history or military buff, you must check this museum out if you are in the Palm Springs area. Good detail in the various exhibits, and friendly staff. You can whip through it pretty quickly (about an hour) if you don’t read a lot, or if you read all the various exhibits, you could be there all day.

    Interesting
We were at the Palm Springs Air Museum, where original aircraft from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War are on display, as well as helicopters and an original Stealth Nighthawk. That looked pretty cool. Some of the cabins were open or the fuselage was cut open so you could go in or look inside. They were small, narrow capsules, thousands of buttons and switches and narrow seats. It was interesting to see. Half of the aircraft are outside without shade and the other half are in air-conditioned hangars.

A Hidden Gym in Palm Springs
An amazing museum in Palm Springs; MUCH bigger than it appears or than you'd expect. Excellent, engaging, knowledgeable docents in all the hangers. The stealth fighter jet they have there is amazing! Do bring / wear a hat/cap for walking outside in the sun to look at all the planes outside of hangers. A great place to visit; very happy to have visited it.

    Exceeded expectations!
We went in a group of 3 couples, various ages 60 and up. Not all of us were aviation fans, but all enjoyed this. We stayed beyond our planned 2 hours. Don't miss the small "movie room", there were a variety of short films showing and I really enjoyed the one about Walt Disney's plane. The highlight was the Stealth Bomber; the volunteer explained how it evades radar in terms we could all understand! Very reasonably priced outing, andhey have a little snack bar with tables in one building; we were allowed to bring our picnic lunch inside and eat there.

Excellent Museum (check there are no special events which will results in hangers being shut before you go)
The museum was excellent. Trip - Check before you go if there is a special event aka a party which will close off hangers. We purchased full price tickets online on Sat 23rd Nov, and discovered after we were in the museum walking about that 1/3 of it was closed for a party. It would have useful if the guy checking tickets and giving out the wrist bands had told us this so we had the option to come back another day.

T6-Texan Flight Review, Palm Springs Air Museum.
Kicking off 2025 in unforgettable style by checking off a bucket list item: taking an exhilarating flight in a T-6 Texan (aka Harvard), a legendary WWII trainer aircraft. This experience promised to be a thrilling tribute to aviation history! The flight began with me being introduced to Tom, the skilled pilot that I had to,sign my life away to fly with. Stepping into the cockpit behind the pilot, where a staff member securely fastened my harness and provided instructions on the location of the air sickness bag as well as how to operate the canopy. After completing the pre-flight checks, the pilot cranked over the 600-horsepower Pratt & Whitney radial engine. As the engine roared to life, the aircraft trembled under its power. With a nod to the ground crew, the pilot initiated the taxi to the runway. Even this initial movement was enough to send a thrill through me, giving me goosebumps. Time to take to the skies as we increased our speed down the runway taking a gentle lift off the runway and into the blue skies of Coachella Valley. The roar of the engine grew deeper as we picked up speed, and in seconds, we left the ground behind. The moment we were airborne, a rush of excitement hit me—an unmatched feeling of freedom combined with awe. Below us stretched the vast expanse of Coachella Valley, a mosaic of desert, mountains, and winding roads. Tom expertly guided the T-6 Texan through a series of maneuvers—a sweeping turn, a few quick dips, and even a brief climb that gave us a stunning view of the San Jacinto Mountains. Tom eased the aircraft back into a calm cruise over the valley. The late-morning sun sparkled on the desert floor below, casting long shadows across the rugged landscape. I took a moment to breathe it all in—this was a dream turned reality. As we approached the airfield, Tom smoothly brought the plane down, lining up perfectly with the runway. The landing was gentle, almost effortless, and before I knew it, we were back on solid ground, taxiing toward the hangar. Climbing out of the cockpit, I couldn’t help but grin ear to ear. I thanked Tom for the incredible ride, genuinely moved by his skill and passion for aviation. I also made sure to express my gratitude to the volunteers at the Palm Springs Air Museum, who made this extraordinary experience possible. Kicking off 2025 like this was more than just ticking a bucket list item—it was a reminder of the magic of adventure and the timeless allure of flight. What an unforgettable way to start the year! Thank You Tom Nightingale, the pilot of my extraordinary flight and to all the volunteers who made my day so memorable.

Amazing air museum, has to be one of my top 3
Love this museum. So many different planes from different time periods. You can get very close to all of them. I personally like how all of the aircraft that are outside, have a beautiful backdrop of the mountains. Lastly, if you enjoy plane spotting this is an amazing place for it. You can practically stand at the fence line of PSP and watch planes take off and land.

Excellent Air Museum; A Must for Vintage Air Plane Enthusiasts
If you are interested in military aircraft and world history, this is a must-see. The displays of WW2 and later “war birds” is first rate. When we were there, they even took visitors up in vintage aircraft with radial or V12 engines growling. It was a thrill to see these veteran planes take to the skies again. The staff seem to be veteran flyers or engineers, all happy to explain each facet of every aircraft in or outside the museum. It’s a young person’s delight and anyone interested in flying warfare history will be tempted to stay for hours.
