Monkey Forest is situated at the southern end of Jl. Monkey Forest in the heart of Ubud. This is probably one of Bali's most popular attractions that is open from 9am to 6pm daily. Entry tickets are now IDR80K per adult (weekdays) and IDR100K per adult (weekends). The Sanctuary is around 12.5 hectares of hilly nature reserve with well maintained walking paths that allow you to explore various sections which 10 major troops and a total of over 1200 long-tailed macaques live and play. Note, that it is forbidden to feed the monkeys and you shouldn't try to touch them. This is for their safety and yours. Otherwise, the monkeys don't care much about the thousands of people that walk through their home forest each day. Don't bother or annoy them and they won't care that you are around taking pictures of them. You will see feeding stations throughout, staff keep them well fed which does seem to thwart any aggression or misbehaviour. Loads of monkeys of all ages, adults, juveniles, young and quite a few babies being carried around by their mothers. In addition to the star attractions, there is a kiosk at the front entrance and a cafe within the sanctuary. You will find two small temples and one large main temple that dates back to the middle of the 14th century within the sanctuary. There is performance pavilion next to the main temple where traditional Balinese dance performances are held a couple times on weekend days. There is also a small exhibition centre where you can see local artist works being displayed. Plenty to keep you occupied at Monkey Forest in Ubud. It is good fun for families, adults and children looking for things to do around Ubud.

This was good fun! 🐒🙈 I went with my wife on the second day that we were in Bali. We paid one of the guides who was allowing monkeys to sit on you and she enjoyed it. It’s fairly safe, and really interesting since I’ve only ever seen monkeys behind a barrier in the zoo. This was a very cool experience to be able to be that close to the monkeys. Admission cost 80,000 rp per person. Stick to the rules and you’ll be fine: don’t feed the monkeys, don’t look them in the eye because they perceive it to be a sign of aggression, don’t touch the baby monkeys because their parents are very protective, and don’t bring food or visible water bottles into the park because they will know and bother you.

An educational place to visit in Central Ubud. The complex is beautiful and had many amazing stone sculptures and temples. We even got to buy a nice painting by a local artist at the Exhibition Hall, at very reasonable prices. This was a good place to start our trek in Bali. Though there were many people, it didnt feel touristy to me as the sanctuary was quite vast.

During the rainy season, you're advised to visit. But no one's saying that if the rain catches you-- all locations are closed for safety reasons, that's what happened here. The ticket was not refunded, but the ticket was marked to indicate that we could come on another convenient day.

You don’t have to visit the monkey forest to see monkeys while in Ubud but it was a nice spot to go for even the trees and art. There are a lot of monkeys and we had no issues with them. I recommend earlier to visit, we went at 10am and it was getting busy, especially by the time we left around 11:15. If you respect the monkey’s space and don’t hold eye contact, you will be fine. There are many people being dumb in there that were also fine but I suggest being a respectful one.

My wife and I visited the monkey sanctuary on our honeymoon. On the day we went there was torrential rain but it was still quite warm. We were warned by the staff we might not see as many monkeys as they don’t like the weather. However there were 100’s of monkeys for us to see. I can’t imagine how many must be around when the weather is fair. The monkeys all had lots to eat and don’t see to be suffering in any way. Some were quite bold and come up close but most keep there distance and just be generally hilarious. We really enjoyed our time and would recommend going to anyone who is in or around Ubud.

It's kind of intimidating at first, but you get comfortable once you start walking around. As long as you give the monkeys, especially ones with babies, their space, and no direct eye contact, you're good. Great experience! For a small price, you can take pictures where it looks like a monkey is taking a selfie with you and your group from a guide. Well worth it!

My family and I visited the Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, Bali, and had a great time during our hour-and-a-half stay. The park is very well-maintained, with clean restrooms, a cafe offering beverages, and a charming souvenir shop where we purchased t-shirts to commemorate our visit. The sanctuary is home to many monkeys, and we particularly enjoyed watching the baby monkeys with their mothers. The staff provided clear instructions to avoid touching or feeding the monkeys, which we followed to ensure both our safety and the animals’ well-being. Unfortunately, we did notice some visitors disregarding these rules, so I encourage everyone to respect the park’s guidelines for a safe and enjoyable experience. The site also features a stunning temple that is worth visiting. We were lucky to catch a live performance during our visit, which added to the experience. Due to the heat and crowds, we left after about an hour and a half, but it was still a memorable outing. Tips for Visitors: • Follow all rules: do not touch or feed the monkeys, keep your items secure/away from monkeys and avoid carrying food. • Visit earlier in the day to beat the heat and crowds. • Great for families or anyone who loves animals. Overall, this is a fantastic place to see monkeys up close in a safe and engaging environment. Highly recommended for visitors to Ubud!

One of the best things we did in Bali. The temples and gardens are very beautiful and well kept. The Monkeys were great to watch. Lots of little ones. They also appeared well looked after. If you follow the guidelines regarding the monkeys you won’t have any issues. We just took off all our jewellery, didn’t carry food or plastic or paper bags. I had on a backpack which was fine. We also caught a traditional dance performance by chance when we were there-which was great. All-in-all a great morning.

Really good value day out - the forest itself is spectacular with a wide variety of interesting trees, temples and wildlife. There are the odd spots of the river/valley floor that have accumulated litter ( like much of Bali unfortunately) but on the whole it is a beautiful well kept attraction . The main stars are of course the monkeys - the 50,000 (£2.50) cost for a selfie with a monkey is well worth the extra charge !! You do see some idiots with things hanging off their bags etc and if missed by staff the monkeys gladly oblige by taking these. Please remember these are semi wild animals and the rules are there for a reason - for both your own and the monkeys protection. Just a little further down from the main entrance and outside of the monkey forest itself ( so no admission fee required) is a tight bend where all the “naughty” monkeys seem to hang - running across the road or climbing across power lines to reach the waste ground the other side with the usual pile of rubbish for them to rummage for goodies . Definitely a must visit attraction if near Ubud.

Air Terjun Tegenungan is a beautiful natural waterfall located just a half-hour drive from Ubud. The lush greenery and picturesque falls are a great photo op to commemorate your trip to Bali. When the conditions are good, you can take a dip in the inviting pool at the base. For a bird's eye view of the falls, be sure to check out the viewpoint near the entrance. Also, note that there's a small fee to enter the waterfall. To make the most of your trip, take a guided tour to explore other waterfalls in Bali. And if you need a break, there are tourist shops and a day club nearby. – Tripadvisor
