It is exactly what the name says. Sacred forest sanctuary for macaque monkeys. A large forest area with temples and huge banyan trees where you see monkeys climbing and playing on their towering aerial roots. Look for Miko the guard who is an expert on monkey groups. You will learn about behavior, team leaders and their characteristics. Do not miss to visit Bapang the blind brave monkey leader who while trying to defend the members of his group was blinded by snake venom.

Our first excursion in Bali. Beautiful place and lots of monkeys to entertain. There were a lot of people, and the monkeys are also just outside the park, so you have to like the ruins and the trees first, the entrance fee is worth it. We enjoyed the whole package

Monkey forest ubud is a home to over 1,200 monkeys. As you walk alongside them, you can also check out all elaborate temples in the area. Great place to see a lot of monkeys if you like to interacting with animals! Just follow the guide and you will have a ton of fun and amazing photos

One of the best experiences of my life. I have travelled a lot however this place really felt sacred. You will see lots of monkeys. I had read the guidelines about not touching, feeding, or making eye contact. I walked around, and rested frequently and enjoyed the surroundings. I did not make eye contact or try to engage with the monkeys. On 3 occasions they just came and sat next to me. I had plenty of time and just wanted to feel this experience. On Saturday or Sunday they have a free dance show, which I attended. It was great. Even with monkeys jumping through trees nearby.

Loved that the monkeys had loads of food and were technically in their natural environment. The 4 monkeys in the cage :( :( now that broke my heart. No environmental enrichment. I understand they are unable to be released but there was nothing in that cage for them...terribly sad to see. Hope this reaches the right people & some changes are considered for them.

My wife and I visited the monkey sanctuary on our honeymoon. On the day we went there was torrential rain but it was still quite warm. We were warned by the staff we might not see as many monkeys as they don’t like the weather. However there were 100’s of monkeys for us to see. I can’t imagine how many must be around when the weather is fair. The monkeys all had lots to eat and don’t see to be suffering in any way. Some were quite bold and come up close but most keep there distance and just be generally hilarious. We really enjoyed our time and would recommend going to anyone who is in or around Ubud.

The Sacred Mandala of Wenara Wana is an amazing place! It is located on Jalan Monkey Forest in Ubud, Indonesia, very close to the forest and amazing wildlife. The experience of seeing monkeys in their natural habitat is unforgettable. The green and fresh natural scenery provides its own tranquility. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean and well maintained. I highly recommend a visit to the Sacred Wenara Wana Mandala for anyone who wants to experience the natural and cultural wonders of Ubud.

We had a lovely time walking around the grounds and encountered lots of monkeys. There was an opportunity for a photo with them as well, which was nice. The Monkeys were called to your lap with food, there are no chains which was good to see. They are wild animals, so giving those with young ones a wide berth would ensure your safety All in all very pleasant and I wasn’t worried about my safety or that if my kids at all.

Of course, there is nothing special here; in fact, you will just walk through the forest along a certain route, accompanied by monkeys. It’s better not to touch them and the maximum thing that threatens you with a needle is that stupid macaque will jump on your shoulders, and of course, no food, glasses or bags, these dummies will most likely try to take it away and then exchange it for bananas with the caretaker. They brazenly climb into backpacks and bags if left unattended. The cost is 500 rubles, there is parking.

We loved our day at the sanctuary, it was bigger and better than expected. We got up close with the monkeys and felt safe enough! It was so touching to see the rehabilitation centre for the two blind monkeys 🐒 and the poor female who had her leg and arm amputated. 😢 A definite must-see
