    Very touristy
It is very touristy, many souvenir shops offer T-shirts, bags, cups and other mementos. When we visited at the end of November 2023, you could easily walk through the alleys, it was well attended but not overcrowded. It was quite nice.

    Must visit
Visited during the start of the Chinese New Year festival and the place was heaving. Tried the hawker centre but the queues were very long so went to a small local restaurant which provided an excellent meal at a reasonable price. Went back to Chinatown later on during the day and it was much less crowded and more enjoyable

    Chinatown New Year delight
Due to the new year celebrations, we visited Chintatown 3 times during our stay in Singapore. We walked away with purchases after each visit - little souvenirs and gifts to give away to family and friends, and of course, for ourselves. The night time display of the New Year celebrations was wonderful to see. It is very see to get to Chinatown via cab or via the MRT, with Chinatown and Maxwell being the main stations. Well worth a visit.

Less vibrant than other Chinatowns in the region
There’s something about Singapore’s Chinatown that just didn’t connect with me, particularly when compared with others in the region — and notably that of nearby Kuala Lumpur. This Chinatown lacks pretty back alleys and quaint, lantern-lit eateries and cocktail bars. Though, as everywhere in Singapore, there are some good hawker markets for food. Too much tourist tat being sold too. So, nothing special in my estimation.

    Chinatown
Lots to see and taste. There is something for everyone at the Maxwell market and the prices are reasonable. There are also lots of stalls and restaurants, it is very busy and anyone looking for a souvenir is sure to find one here.

Great area. Enjoyed our time there
We caught the train to Chinatown and straight away we went into a shopping complex where prices were reasonable and in fact quite cheap compared to other places we had been. An hour foot massage was only $25. Loads of massage place, beauty, jewellery etc. we also went across the street to another mall. Overall our view of Chinatown is everything is affordable and you will find What you are looking for here. Highly recommended.

    We love Chinatown!
We love wandering around Chinatown, when in Singapore, it’s relaxed, nobody really hassles you to buy anything, even the guys trying to measure you up for a suit seem to have disappeared and that is quite sad! Anywhere that has a Tintin shop has to be a special place…Chinatown is so different at various times throughout the day too and the MRT is right there. Lots of shops and stalls to browse and places to eat that are not crazy pricey. We are looking forward to returning already.

    A typical Far Eastern Chinatown.
Chinatown in Singapore does not differ much from other Chinatowns in Indochina. This is perhaps bigger, but also more useless, because the Chinese here are hundreds of thousands scattered everywhere throughout the city, certainly not all concentrated here. Therefore it is a purely tourist place. The central core of Chinatown is made up of narrow parallel and perpendicular streets full of mostly Chinese restaurants and various places to eat. There are also two or three religious buildings of some interest.

Take it or leave it in Singapore
Singapore has a lot to offer so worth visiting there. The people were friendly and helpful..we saw the gardens at the bay which were spectacular.. China town was great.. orchard road had so many shops..but… food is expensive. Beware of the private taxis they charge you so much more than the regular taxis which are very reasonable. The humidity and heat was unbearable for me I struggled with it a lot.. everywhere is air conditioned but outside of that it was so hot and humid. I would only use it as a stopover as it’s just not for me and it only took a couple of days to see things of interest.

    Definitely worth the visit.
It’s a great place to visit if you want to purchase cheap souvenirs and pay higher prices for dishes that you could get at hawker stalls located outside of Chinatown for less money. There is a lot of shops and businesses that continue to operate as they have before Chinatown became a tourist destination. But those are hard to find and require some serious investment in time as you will need to work through all of the tourist shops. It’s also a great place to see some beautiful murals and traditional shops. Definitely worth the visit.
