I can’t give them a 5 because some areas inside the compound are in need of maintenance and cleaning. With the thousands of of Egyptian pounds they collect every day, and their administration can’t take some to make basic maintenance repairs! Still the Mosque is mesmerizing.

The Mosque of Muhammad Ali, located in the Cairo Citadel, is an architectural masterpiece that should not be missed. The mosque is incredibly grand, with beautiful domes and towering minarets that dominate the skyline. Inside, the intricate details of the design, from the stunning chandeliers to the ornate decorations, are truly impressive. The view from the mosque, overlooking Cairo, is breathtaking and adds to the overall experience. When visiting, remember that you will need to remove your shoes before entering. There are people offering plastic coverings for your feet and asking for money, but you don’t need to pay for them - you can walk inside freely in your socks. The mosque is peaceful, majestic, and highly recommended for anyone visiting Cairo!

The large dome hanging lighting is really unique. You need to take off your shoes when entering. The mosque also has the pattern on the 20 Egyptian pound. You can go for a walk if you have the opportunity. It is also very good to see Egypt from the commanding heights.

Inside the Saladin Citadel is the Alabaster Mosque. I remembered this from my first visit in 2018 and wanted to show it to my husband and visit it again. When I last visited it was covered in rugs but now the floor is uncovered and the swirls of light above are reflected in the floor. The mosque is no longer in use. We were able to visit on a Saturday and I think Fridays too would have been OK. Head scarves were not required and we just needed to put on disposable plastic shoe covers to enter. The multiple domes are beautifully decorated and the windows bring in the sunlight. The outside is all in white stone, a mixture of limestone and alabaster. It was still as beautiful as I remembered.

The Mohammed Ali Mosque, located in the Saladin Castle in Cairo, was commissioned by the Ottoman Egyptian governor Muhammad Ali and completed in 1857. Muhammad Ali, formerly an officer of the Ottoman Empire, gradually gained military power and control of Egypt in the war of resistance against the aggression of the European powers against Egypt. The Mohammed Ali Mosque is similar in architectural style to the blue mosque of Tumanti. It has a number of circular domes, sharp towers, and a complexly decorated prayer hall. The Muhammad Ali Mosque uses a large number of snowstone panels to decorate the walls and columns, and the deep green dome is filled with golden sculptures, and under the lighting of a large number of large-sized hanging lights, it is brilliant, more magnificent than the blue mosque in Istanbul, and a more mysterious sense. The inner courtyard outside the prayer hall is surrounded by a white stone column and a bell tower, and in the middle there is a beautifully engraved fountain, in the overall style resembling the castle of European aristocracy.

The Muhammad Ali Mosque had a beautiful dome ceiling in the prayer room. The Muhammad Ali Mosque is located within the Citadel in the Historic District of Cairo. It was completed in 1848 and is a Turkish-style (Ottoman architecture) mosque. In any case, the dome ceiling in the prayer room is beautiful and worth seeing. Why not visit? I highly recommend it.

It is a large mosque that Mohammed Ali ordered to be built in the 19th century. It is Byzantine style, with aspects reminiscent of the blue mosque in Istanbul, and others of Hagia Sophia. Its name is due to the material used to decorate its interior. It is a very beautiful building, in which the roof and columns stand out. Highly recommended.

The grand mosques always impress and this does too. A gloriously elegant courtyard leads you into the spacious interior. The lights and decoration are beautiful. Shoes off for all and head coverings for the ladies. Nice also to see the traditional mosque cat poking about here and there too! There was a little family of pusses living against the back wall behind a pew. Very sweet.

I visited Istanbul six months ago and had seen some mosques, so I thought, "I don't need to go all the way to mosques in Egypt," but I was surprised by the wonderful mosques. The interior decoration of the dome, the chandeliers and the many lamps were beautiful and wonderful. I also found it beautiful to be surrounded by arches in the courtyard, which I was glad to visit.

To finish the 11 days in Egypt we closed the experience with this tour that included the mosque , the citadel and the market. Really an end to the trip with nothing to reproach from the monuments to the walk through the market and the neighborhood that houses it. We should not be tempted by the offers to walk and haggle that is what it is all about. We recommend it!!
