- Song Lin35 contributionsVery beautiful building, a lot of tourists when we got there. ptices are marked up as well so i would recommend going to other places for souvenirs. you probably do not need to stay here for long since there are limited things to see, but i would say just one time visit would sufficeVisited December 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 7 December 2024
- EVA122014Italy21,170 contributionsA large colonial building, it is the central post office of Saigon, created by Gustave Eiffel's architectural firm in the late nineteenth century. When we visited it we were full of tourists, inside and out, so it was also difficult to photograph the details without filming someone.... I was struck by the skylights on the ceiling, from which a lot of light comes, and the portrait of Ho Chi Minh that dominates from above, there are old post boxes, with clocks marking the time of different places in the world, many tourists were busy writing postcards to send, all around many souvenir stalls, and agencies that offered tours that took away charm. Out with a delirium of tourists to take pictures!Visited December 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 January 2025
- EssexBetty64Essex, United Kingdom695 contributionsLooks more like a train station than a Post Office. We stopped here on our Jeep Tour. We had a guide who explained the importance of the building and about various things inside. Without him I don't think we would have found it so interesting and probably wouldn't have stayed long.Visited March 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2025
- Vũ Tuấn AnhHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam3 contributionsVisiting the Saigon Central Post Office evokes a mix of awe and nostalgia. As you step inside, you're greeted by the grandeur of the soaring vaulted ceilings and the elegant arches, which instantly transport you back to the colonial era. The intricate details of the architecture and the historical maps on the walls tell stories of a bygone time, sparking curiosity about the city's past. The atmosphere feels alive yet tranquil, with the faint sounds of visitors admiring the space and locals conducting everyday postal business. The charm of the old wooden phone booths and the large central portrait of President Hồ Chí Minh adds a layer of cultural pride and history. It's a place that feels both timeless and vibrant, leaving you with a sense of wonder at how history and modernity coexist so seamlessly in this iconic landmark.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 December 2024
- tfreshwater202031 contributionsIt may seem strange to review an experience from a Post Office 8,000 miles away, but after seeing things for myself, I feel it was something worth sharing. You can easily see the French influences on the building both inside and out. Beautiful and very busy, located in a popular area of town. With wall murals, wood phone booths, tile floors, and skylights. Built in the late 1880's, it has stood the test of time, and probably enjoyed a renovation or two. Paint, wood trim, floor, etc. all in photo- ready shape. Looking at the oversize Ho Chi Minh portrait on the back wall, it was easy to remember all the great historical events written in letters passing through this place! A free- of- charge activity with LOTS to look at. There are limited shopping kiosks located on the center floor and additional shopping in each wing. Best of all, you can still purchase postal services here!! Parcels and postcards can be mailed with postage available from the very helpful and informed clerks. The post office provided a nice indoor break from the city heat, a glimpse of local culture, and lots of HCMC history to feel a part of. I'm happy I included time for a visit.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 November 2024
- Rohit SahaniJapan100 contributionsThe Saigon Central Post Office is an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring Ho Chi Minh City. Stepping into this grand structure is like taking a journey back in time. The exterior boasts elegant yellow walls with intricate details, a stunning blend of history and art. Inside, the high-vaulted ceiling and the vintage wooden telephone booths create a nostalgic charm. The large portrait of Ho Chi Minh overlooking the main hall adds a significant cultural touch. What impressed me most was how the post office is still a functional space, with locals and tourists using it for postal services, buying postcards, or browsing the souvenir stalls. The staff were friendly and efficient, making it an enjoyable experience. I also loved the convenience of writing a postcard and mailing it right there—a personal and heartfelt way to share a piece of Vietnam with loved ones. The Saigon Central Post Office is not just a historic building; it’s a living museum of Vietnam’s past. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, a history buff, or just someone looking to soak in the local culture, this place will not disappoint.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 December 2024
- Wong Tai ManHong Kong, China8 contributionsWe went to the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City and were attracted by its modern automatic weighing system, convenient entrance and exit on the first floor, and advanced tracking technology. The building is elegant and simple in design, exuding a strong historical charm. The automatic weighing system of the post office is impressive, which makes it convenient and fast to send out parcels. The entrance and exit design on the first floor is thoughtful, allowing us to enter and exit the post office conveniently. In addition, the advanced tracking technology ensures that our parcels can be delivered on time. The Central Post Office shows the perfect combination of modern technology and classical design, which makes us full of respect for this building.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 April 2024
- LolaGo1Washington DC, District of Columbia6,643 contributionsPeople were crowding the entrance when I arrived. Once, I passed this crowd, I was able to admire this attraction, its colorful celing, painting of Ho Chi Minh, Windows where staff are selling stamps, Post office boxes, etc. People were milling around a store to buy postcards as souvenirs of their visit. Nore that there are several small stores selling locally made products, jewelries, etc.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 31 March 2024
- LSQRD1Kent, Ohio897 contributionsThis is a nice, historic building to pop into while going around the city. The interior is nifty and I loved the old phone booths and clocks of different time zones. There are places to sit down and write a post card which you can then mail. The place is busy and there are bunch of shops inside. Worth a stop if you are in the area.Visited November 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 December 2024
- BobWEManhattan Beach, California736 contributionsSituated in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City is the Central Post Office. this is a must see experience if this is your first or even your second visit to HCM. this is a working post office where locals can pay their bills, process mail, make phone call in old fashion phone booths and browse the many booths for trinkets. The post office is housed in a historical building that is a popular stop for tours and locals who wish to have their photos taken (many wedding photos here). The interior includes many market stalls with a variety of gifts and souvenirs at reasonable prices. The post office is one of the top tourist attractions in the city and can be visited at the same time as the Notre-Dame Cathedral across the street and the Opera House. Adorning the main wall is a huge portrait of Ho Chi Minh. Admission is free and well worth having a look inside if visiting central Saigon.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 March 2024
