There is a lot to see here beside the Mausoleum
Be prepared for long lines. They do move pretty quickly. The mausoleum is based on one in Russia. Basically you go into a cooled building and file past Ho Chi Minh’s body. The interesting part is seeing how much he is loved and revered by his people. When you come out you can see the Presidential Palace he refused to live in. Then go to house no 54 where he did live for 4 years, which is basically the servants quarters for the presidential palace. Then you can go through the stilt house that he lived in for the remainder of his life.

A beacon of history and inspiration
The detailed sculptures were an inspiring sight, each one meticulously maintained. The mausoleum stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Vietnamese people. A visit to this iconic landmark is a must for any solo traveler seeking to delve deeper into the rich tapestry of Vietnam’s past.

    The queues move quickly
We are glad we had a guide when we visited in order to navigate the security and adhere to the strict deferential protocols. The queues appear long, however, move swiftly, particularly in the mausoleum. This is on the list of things to do in Hanoi, and certainly, there was lots of respect and reverence by the Vietnamese visitors.

    Too many people
The mausoleum of Ho Chi Min who was president from 1945 until his death in 1969 is definitely a destination worth visiting. There is a long queue to do some kind of check at the metal detector. They put my camera in a red bag. We pay the ticket 40,000 Dong each. The guards have a particular all-white uniform because on Saturdays and Tuesdays there is a kind of special ceremony. the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a complex that includes the monumental tomb, the house, the Presidential Palace and the Museum dedicated to Ho Chi Minh. It is now considered a sacred place for all Vietnamese. The complex was built in the period from 1973 to 1975

    Preservation is amazing!
Visited in March. The weather was perfect. Was warm but not hot. Lot's of people and school children but the lines go fast so dont let that intimate you. The lines stop at 11AM as it closes by 11:30AM. Closed Monday and Friday. Amazing how well preserved this guy is. Is it plastination? Is it a wax figure? Who knows but word is he is taken to Russia for touch ups every year. Has Russia found the fountain of youth for the dead?

    Ok
This was ok. Nothing exciting but if you’re a history buff you might enjoy this. Keep in mind you can’t go in here wearing shorts. We tried to and were turned away and then had to buy some dead sexy pants from a street vendor so we could get in.

I wanted to see the changing of the guard.
I visited on a tour of Hanoi city. I was told that there would be a long queue, but I entered through the gate and walked along the long corridor without stopping, and entered the huge building where Ho Chi Minh's body was kept in a refrigerated container, guarded by many guards. I was told that stopping, taking pictures, and talking were prohibited inside the building. Most of the people in line looked like they were Vietnamese. I wanted to see the changing of the guard.

    Excellent But Time Consuming
The mausoleum is of great historic and social importance to the people of Vietnam, which in our opinion makes it well worth a visit. However, it is worth being aware that the lines can be extremely long and it may take up to several hours to get to the inside of the mausoleum. We weren’t aware of this and visited around 8.30 am on a Sunday without having had any breakfast and it was 11 am by the time we finished seeing the mausoleum - we didn’t end up seeing the presidential place, museum, or the stilt house because we were too tired at the end of it/didn’t have the time. The time spent in the mausoleum is about 5 minutes. Our advise is don’t skip your breakfast/cuppa, come prepared to stand in the sun for few hours, and make sure you have sufficient time if you want to see everything in the complex.

    tribute and history
Visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi is a memorable and poignant experience. The mausoleum, which is an iconic monument, has deep spiritual significance for the Vietnamese people. Inside, a solemn atmosphere and an aura of respect surround the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh. A strict dress code must be followed and respect for the location must be maintained. Be prepared to queue as the mausoleum is a popular attraction. A visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is not just a tourist activity. This is an opportunity to bear witness to a historical figure and pay tribute to a leader who left an indelible mark on Vietnam's history.

A good insight into a powerful but humble leader
This is an experience not to be missed. It is certainly very interesting but it would be a push to call it excellent. You can only go so close to the Mausoleum itself. The scale of the building and the security certainly reflect the esteem in which Ho-Chi-Minh is held by the Vietnamese people. The mausoleum dominates an absolutely massive square which is devoid of any other structure. It looks across the square to the National Assembly building as if the great leader is checking that current day leaders are not betraying the revolution. Also on the site and in much more attractive surrounds are the yellow walled official presidential residence (which Ho only used for official business) and two much more humble dwellings which Ho actually lived and worked in. You can't go in, but you can get a good look in through glass frontages. A good insight into a leader of the people for the people.
