It wasn’t that much worse than other zoos, despite what some of the other reviews claim. You can walk around and see the animals at your own pace if you prefer. If you go on the little buses you get to see the bigger more exotic animals, be advised the volume from the speakers from the tour guide is extremely loud, so I would not recommend it to babies or really young children. And perhaps avoid the tiger show, it’s crazy how they get big cats to obey like dogs, that’s what my party told me, but I also avoided it because volume was way too loud for a baby. Overall, if you’ve done all the other tourists things in Chiang Mai and is desperate for one more, sure it’s not the worst time you’ll have. But if you don’t go, you wouldn’t have missed anything.

Although this is a great zoo to go round on the truck at night we didn’t realise it was not ethical as our hotel didn’t not tell us. The tiger show especially was hard to watch as the tigers were clearly scared of the keepers and we then regret going. There is hardly anywhere to get food. The water show is okay and it’s nice to see so many animals but a lot of the pens were really small and when you drive past they shine a light in the animals faces. Not sure I would recommend giving money to a organisation like this if I knew before I went. The elephant and bear were also trained to wave at us which is clearly not natural.

The night safari was fantastic, with giraffes and zebras coming up to the bus to say hello, and the tiger performance was really amazing. Afterwards, it was simple to take a tuk tuk back into town. It is advised to have dinner at the buffet restaurant located in the parking lot before entering the park, as there aren't many food alternatives there.

We only booked the "running circuit" and that was completely fine. Animal shows are a no-go for us. We were mostly alone on the path until a "terror of all animals" family came along. Wow, how disrespectful can you be to animals. As if the zoo situation wasn't stupid enough.
