- GeorgiaBrentwood, United Kingdom118 contributionsAmazing and must visitAmazing architecture. Definitely worth a visit. We booked with get your guide and we had a full 15 minute introduction in English and the tour guide was so funny and helpful. We had our own map and audio guide and could walk around at our pace. It is a bit busy there but it's easy to get around and there's SO much to see. Definitely expect to spend at least 3-4 hours here if you want to see everything. My favourite part was Golden Lane at the end it was so amazing seeing preserved houses from different time periods.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 February 2024
- Diego tCecina, Italy8 contributionsSpectacular even if you need 2 oxygen tanks to get thereNice eh, for goodness sake. The cathedral is evocative, the colors and lights are beautiful, it is worth the money you spend. But in Prague I don't know about bulldozers. We made a climb as steep as Mount Purgatory, my girlfriend threatened to stay halfway up the stairs all day. Inside the cathedral my hair fell out from the cold. Inside the armor corridor there is an incredible smell of sweat. Anyway, nice experience, especially the changing of the guard (nice coats by the way). Plus point: if like us you are obsessed with the potato stick/tornado, it's there.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2024
- Amyce24Bristol, United Kingdom172 contributionsAmazing HistoryA huge castle complex with a cathedral and a really interesting history. You can visit just the site or the site plus the exhibitions and the cathedral tower. I chose the lot and it’s so worth it. The exhibitions are really detailed and the view from the tower is stunning (despite the climb). Several nice places to grab a hot wine or a bite to eat within the walls then a really nice wander back down into the town. If you want to see everything expect to spent 3-4 hours, more if the gardens are open. Well worth it though.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 15 February 2024
- TommoMelbourne, Australia57,101 contributionsImpresssive castleWe visited the Prague Castle whilst in Prague. The castle was built in the 9th century and is the official office of the President of the Czech Republic. Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world and is UNESCO listed. Some of the historical building to visite include Old Royal palace, St Vitus Cathedral, St Georg's Basilica, Golden lane, The story of the Prague Castle and The Picture Gallery of Prague Castle. Its well worth visiting and allow at least half a day for a visit.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 February 2024
- peter yWrexham, United Kingdom303 contributionsA long walk up but worth the effort. (get the Circuit Ticket for best value)The Castle is huge and high up so either be prepared for a long hard walk or get a taxi. We walked from the old steps at the right side which is a hard climb but easier then the other side. The view from the top was terrific and there are several places to take photos of the river and beyond. Upon entry we opted for the Circuit Ticket which is the best value. ( the tours are expensive and not worth the money). Our tickets cost 125czk each ( over 65) and gave access to 4 venues which included St Vitus cathedral and Golden lane museums plus the royal palace etc. These are quite enough for a day visit of around 4 hours. Don't bother with skip line tickets or booking ahead. There's plenty of ticket offices and the queues are not too bad. The Golden Lane museum upstairs is very good but it gets crowded as it is long and narrow. The cathedral is beautiful and despite the signs, most people were taking photos. There are plenty of toilets dotted around especially in the coffee shops of which the outside one is the best value. Overall the Castle is a must go to place for any visit to Prague and has outstanding grounds to explore but as with all of the City it is all cobble stone so wear good sound footwear and take plenty of breaks. The changing of the guard happens on the hour and is nice to see. This is at the front end of the castle then head down the long hill back towards Charles Bridge, stopping off at the tank beer restaurant on the way down for a refreshing drink.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 February 2024
- JitsiriBangkok, Thailand14,845 contributionsBeautifulThis is a Prague landmark that was built in 885 and has been certified by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ancient castle in the world. When walking around inside, you must have a local guide take you. The interior consists of the castle, palace, gardens and St. Vitus Cathedral. Viewed many valuable objects of the Czech Republic. Including the body of the King of Bohemia, beautiful stained glass, and buying souvenirs before leaving.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 February 2024
- Cricri52 contributionsDifferent optional ticketsVery nice set of monuments to visit one after the other. The castle itself is sparsely furnished. The cathedral is magnificent. The permanent exhibitions (additional tickets) are necessary for history buffs like us but daunting for the general public.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 February 2024
- FrancescaItaly237 contributionsThe climb that leaves you breathless, literallyWe purchased the student ticket and paid €5 each. To get there I disposed of all the food I ate during the holiday, almost as a punishment. Once you get up there is a panoramic point, but the walls are very high and you don't have the satisfaction of taking a selfie if you are short like me. The ticket included the Cathedral of San Vito which opened at 1pm so we only saw it from the outside, the Cathedral of San Giorgio, the castle and the Golden Lane. The latter was my favorite part, really cute and characteristic. I looked for the changing of the guard that everyone was talking about, but there was no guard, maybe I took the wrong side. Overall it's worth seeing.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 February 2024
