    Great views well worth going
I was awake early (jet lag) so decided to walk from the port area to Mt Eden. It’s an easy route and took about an hour (and didn’t cost anything). I arrived c8am and there were a few folk there but not too busy. There is an amount of free car parking at the bottom of the mountain. The climb up was quite short and easy enough (take a break when you need to though). The views from the top were great - the downtown area and all around. Well worth the effort.

    nice place, good walks
I had already been in 2019. This time we entered through a different entrance at the end of a small street within the neighborhood that surrounds this park. very nice option because the walk was partly inside the jungle (because it is not a forest, the vegetation in NZ in that area is jungle, super humid). It is a demanding hike to get to the top. The view is spectacular even though we had a rainy and foggy day. Good option to see the city from another angle. Afterwards you can eat or drink something in the neighboring neighborhood, which is very beautiful.

Beautiful view of Auckland and surrounding area
After a very long flight, this was an excellent place to go to get the lay of the land and appreciate the beauty of Auckland from its highest point. The crater is beautiful and the boardwalks are very well done. A quick and spectacular walk.

    Views Worth the Hike Up
We got off the bus on Mt Eden Road and entered probably the least used entrance to Mount Eden. It wound around the base of the Mount and up a long stretch of stairs. We definitely got our steps in that day! All the effort was worth it when we reached the top and took in the 360 degree views of Auckland. Due to this being a sacred site, visitors were requested to walk on the designated path/boardwalk.

This was an easy afternoon hike.
The views shown in the photos give you an idea for when you make it up there. It's a fun hike. People of all ages were doing it. We met a bunch of couples who were there on excursion off their big cruise ship. It has some raised wooden walkways to get up to the top while saving the native grasses being grown. We are over 55 and enjoyed using our walking sticks as many parts do not have side railings.

    Wonderful views and excellent pathway
We loved the walk up the top of the volcano. It was so well maintained and the tracks were suitable for all fitness levels. The viewing platforms allowed visitors to enjoy the views and it was very calming to view the wonderful surroundings of Auckland. A must do whilst in this beautiful city.

    Afternoon Visit
We came here mid afternoon in early December so the sun was beating down on us. Be prepared as there are few to no spots with shade cover. The walk up from the lower car park is entirely worth it and we are glad we did it. Allow 2 hours in total with stops along the way and perhaps a cafe visit at the upper parking lot area. Mostly stroller/push car friendly (the upper rim walkway has steps up/down but there are no steps to get to the top.

Amazing location to see the city.
My wife and I visited Mount Eden as part of the Explorer hop on, hop off tour. This was definitely one of the highlight spots on the tour. The walk up was on a moderately steep paved path and took under 15 minutes. Well worth it. The weather was perfect and the views were spectacular. Many photos were taken :-)
