Tranquil location in sight of city
Well worth a visit with done great flowers, birds and frogs. Decent coffee bar and a small but interesting museum with samples of loads of plants, fruit, wood etc. The 98 bus is free and circles around Adelaide by the gardens, zoo, the Oval and back into town.

Great Garden, Needing Work In Some Areas
Do not get me wrong, the gardens are very good and generally well presented and a great green space on the edge of the city. My first reaction was to compare it with Melbourne and it fell short by a wide margin with a large area very poorly maintained and developed. The cactus area was great as were some others. but it fell down in parts.

    Great visit
What a wonderful garden. There are so many different, interesting and well-labelled plants, the cafe was nice and the Santos Museum of Economic Botany is utterly fascinating - it’s the only one in the world so it’s unique. It’s plants we eat, take as medicine, grow in our gardens - even if you think ‘I’ll just pop in’ I guarantee that you’ll be amazed at how interesting it is and stay a little longer.

    Relaxing city experience
Right on the CBD, walking distance of the main retail area of the city, the Botanic Gardens are a treasure, an oasis of calm. And free entry! Wonderful way to relax for a couple of hours

    One of Our Favorites
We’ve been to botanical gardens all over the world, and this ranks among our favorites. The museum of economic botany is particularly interesting, and not to be missed if you’re a plant lover. The whole garden, however, is well worth a half-day of your time. If we lived in Adelaide, we’d come here often.

    Experience Adelaide Botanical Gardens!
We were enthralled with the beautiful botanical gardens nestled just a stones throw away from the city centre! The gardens were so diverse, with beautiful matured trees, lawns, lakes and old colonial era buildings whih shows Adelaide's rich history. The highlight for us was the large Bicentenial Conservatory building which boasts a large tropical rainforest and a canopy walk through the trees. Outstanding! Love Adelaide!

The Victorian glass house is beautiful.
Seven of us spent 4 hours wandering around the gardens. Including about an hour in the Cafe. The museum is worth a visit the glass house is enchanting with the Victoria lillies. Very relaxing place to spend time. Random seating available in the shade. Grab a visitors map. Go early as parking can be a challenge. Park on plain tree rd. It's shaded and close to gree entry. A place worth several visits. Great photo opportunities.

    Just beautiful
Adelaide is a city of parks and green space and the Botanic Gardens are superb, with a huge variety of plants in charming layout. There are also fascinating oddities like a bat roost, with hundreds of them hanging off a couple of bare trees like restless fruit, and the Museum of Economic Botany. Would maybe pay to check the maintenance schedule before you go, as the conservatory was closed for arborists to do their thing, and one of cafés has been gutted for a refit, meaning the queue at the other one was quite long.

    A great botanic garden
This botanic garden is very pleasant and is probably the most interesting attraction in the Adelaide parklands. While not prodigious in size, the garden has a wide and varied collection of often picturesque plants. The bicentennial conservatory is impressive in its size (probably one of the largest conservatories in Oceania), and the other buildings are small but fascinating, including the very ornamentally designed palm house, the Amazon pavilion, and the Museum of Economic Botany, which is a diminutive museum but has plenty of fascinating exhibitions. The downside is that some of the garden beds are subpar, and due to maintenance some areas occasionally have a very significant fertiliser smell. Overall, the Adelaide Botanic Garden is, in my opinion, much less spectacular compared to the Brisbane and Melbourne botanic gardens. But it is still a very solid location to spend a serene afternoon.
