Cairns Aquarium is a must see place when in Cairns
This must be the 2nd best to actually diving into coral reefs but even then it would not be possible to see the number of species that you can see up close in this perfectly designed Aquarium. We spent more than 3 hours including the Turtle Rehabilitation Center and we could have spent the rest of the day just watching these amazing coral views and sea creatures. It should be on everyone’s list while visiting Cairns. We originally purchased Great Barrier Reef tour but when we learned about the Cairns Aquarium and reading the reviews (also the weather conditions were not clear), we cancelled the snorkeling tour and purchased the entry tickets to Cairns Aquarium. I am glad we did that, I wouldn’t want to miss this place. Also credits to everyone working there and volunteering at the Turtle Rehabilitation Center, they are amazing people. Thank you all.
Thank you for this incredible review! Wow we’re so happy you enjoyed your experience and will be sure to pass on this lovely feedback to our team. Thank you for visiting us here at the Cairns Aquarium, and we hope you continue to enjoy the underwater magic of the Great Barrier Reef into the future 😄🐠🐢🪸🦈

    Well worth a visit
One of the most beautiful aquariums I have ever visited. Well laid out. Visitor flow well designed. Only wish that during various demonstrations the docent would speak more slowly and clearly. I am a native English speaker but had difficulty understanding words. Perhaps not just the accent but perhaps the acoustics
Hi thank you for your lovely review 😄🦈🐠🪸 We’re glad you enjoyed your experience 😊

    Educational and Entertaining
I really enjoyed the talks given by staff around the aquarium. The staff knew how to comfortably engage visitors while also educating and imparting their passion for the Great Barrier Reef. The interactions between the staff and the fish were very sweet. I also really appreciated being able to go through the aquarium more than once, as we skipped some of the tanks the first time in order to hear the talks. I do, however, however wish the gift shop had more memorable items for the museum that are easy to pack for backpacking visitors.
Wow thank you so much for this incredible review! 😄🦈🐠🐢 We’re so happy you enjoyed the educational aspect of your visit. We’ll be sure to pass this feedback onto our wildlife education team; their passion and knowledge is so incredible! So we’re glad you got to enjoy that aspect of your visit. We’ll be sure to pass on your feedback to the appropriate department for the retail store. Have a fish-tastic day! 😄🐠

    Cairns Aquarium
It is nice place to go with a toddler to see different sea creatures. Definitely take corral tour to the lab. Turtels tour is also ok, but only three turtles were there in Feb. Overall me and my 5 year old daughter enjoyed it.
Hi, thank you for leaving a review 😄 We’re so happy you enjoyed the coral conservation tour here at the Cairns Aquarium ☺️. Our turtle hospital is a part of a non for profit organisation called the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre. There are three hospital sites in Cairns, one at Fitzroy island, cairns aquarium and JCU. The idea of this tour is not to see a large number of sea turtles; the tour is intended to highlight the threats our marine turtles are facing in the wild, and how we can all help them. Our turtle hospital houses sick or injured marine turtles and we will release them once they are ready to go back into the wild. And so our patient number in the hospital will vary, and for the moment we will only house 3 sea turtles in our hospital facility. Thank you for your review 😄 And thank you for booking onto the turtle hospital tour and the coral conservation tour. Both of these tours provide donations to two non for profit organisations, so our turtles and our coral appreciate you booking these experiences to support their conservation 😄🐠🦈.

    Educational Experience
The aquariums were so well kept and the scheduled talks amazing. We arrived when it opened at 9:30 a.m. and did all 4 scheduled talks between 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. about River Monsters, Denizens of the Deep, Life of Sharks & Rays and Curious & Coloured. The talks were all great!! We were there about 2 and a half hours. It was a great experience to learn about the great barrier reef from a local source.
Thank you for this awesome review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the educational aspect of your visit and were able to catch each of the daily presentations done by our super wildlife educators! 😄🐠

Well worth a visit, very interesting and informative place to go.
Lovely Aquarium with enthusiastic well trained staff who were happy to share their knowledge with you. With a focus on primarily local species and an emphasis on reef fish, this was informative as well for the out of town visitor. Well laid out with an easy to follow path from the fresh water species at the beginning to the transition zone and eventually to salt water species. We would definitely return for a repeat visit as it is hard to take it all in over one visit. We took lots of photos, I just have to learn how to download them!
Thank you for leaving us this 5 star review! We are pleased to hear that you had a Jaw-some time whilst visiting the Cairns Aquarium and we can not wait to welcome you back again soon! 🐠

    WELL WORTH THE VISIT
Totally enjoyed this place. The BEST Aquarium I have ever been too! SO many fish etc to see. Highly Recommend. Very informative. You actually see more than you do on a boat reef tour. All the sea creatures look happy and well. Go enjoy a great day out as you won't be disappointed. Stay as long as you like.
Wow thank you so much for this incredible review! We’re so happy you enjoyed your visit here at the Cairns Aquarium and hope to welcome you back again one day! 😄🐠⭐️🐢

    Great Visit
Went here on a hot sunny day. It was good to dive into a cool, more shadowy place and get to see plenty of fish, eels, snakes and many other creatures too. Some huge tanks with great viewing galleries. Plenty of information and education boards around too. Loved it.
Thank you for your five star review! The Cairns Aquarium is the perfect place to visit all year round as we provide the perfect activity to fill in those rainy days or escape the sweltering summer heatwaves! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us!
