- andream0402Melbourne, Australia4,048 contributionsPick up a mapA beautiful garden. It’s accessible to all with a road going through it so you’d be able to drive in closer to the gardens. Free to enter. Pick up a map or you’ll have no idea where to go especially if you go all the way to the top. There are only numbers to guide you. There is a cafe next door but the kitchen closes at 2.30. You can get the bus there from Brisbane CDB. A nice walk .Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 October 2023
- ItchyFeetCamarillo, California11,581 contributionsGood for bird watchingWe stopped at the botanical garden on the way up to the Lookout, and the botanical garden has a lot to see. You could easily spend several hours here depending on your interest level. There’s a back area that has the Australian plant area but the lake is quite low right now because of the drought. I did walk back to section 3 where I saw laughing kookaburra birds and sulfur crested cockatoos. Enjoyed the different gardens but especially the bird life!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 October 2023
- Wa SAdelaide, Australia29 contributionsAn outstanding botanic gardenBeautiful botanic gardens. The Japanese garden is especially exquisite, and there is a diverse range of plants and environments across the 56 hectares, including the arid plants, fern house, rainforests, and the tropical dome. The restaurant is mediocre, but otherwise this garden is excellent.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 October 2023
- JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,973 contributionsWonderful spot to slow down and (re-)acquaint with natureWe only had an hour to visit the gardens and wish it had been twice or three times as long. It is a delightful place, with a well marked and usually shady central path wending its way through a series of attractive and tranquil themed gardens. Our favourites were probably the Japanese garden and the bonsai house, though we didn't get as far as the Australian plants trail, which I'm sure would have been another highlight for us. Next time! The map provided by the Gardens was an excellent resource and I loved the way everything was well sign-posted. Fair bit of wildlife around, too, especially Eastern Water Dragons. I think they think they own the place.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 November 2023
- jonathan mBury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom279 contributionsSuperb botanical gardenWe had 1 1/2 hours and only managed about 1/3 of the gardens. Probably needs 2 visits. It is free. Japanese gardens, bonsai specimens, cacti, temperate gardens , lagoons, rainforest , giant bamboos and more… Excellent.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 November 2023
- LindaHanc, France226 contributionsgoodVisited again. This is a lovely garden on a cool day. Unfortunately today was very hot and a struggle to walk around. Managed Japanese garden, bonsai, palm and tropical garden all excellent.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 January 2024
- JoanneLake Mary, Florida2,132 contributionsLovely and tranquilThis is such a gem of a place. It is free to enter and there is both coach and car parking. Our tour group only had 1.5 hours, so I kept to the bottom part near the information center. They had such cool ponds with a variety of ducks and other animals. The cactus, arid and fern areas all were well done and had lots of signs explaining the various plants. I really enjoyed the farming area where they were growing things like eggplant, corn, citrus trees and other edible plants. Definitely take one of the brochures to decide where you want to visit if you are short on time. The place is large enough that you don't feel crowded.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 February 2024
- max736Brisbane, Australia69 contributionsPretty gardens but...surrounded by a noisy highway! The Brisbane Botanical Garden by Mt Cootha has lots of beautiful gardens which you could spend a few hours exploring. My issue with the place is that it's located next to a busy highway so you can hear the sound of traffic throughout the garden. It takes away from the serenity of the place. I would suggest going to a Mt. Cootha hiking trail instead. Unless you really don't mind the sound of traffic as you walk through a Japanese garden...Visited February 2024Written 18 February 2024
- DamonLondon, United Kingdom52 contributionsA great destination for an outdoor picnicWell cared for and wide selection of plants and trees located near the look out point for Brisbane city. There was free parking and a cafe for convenience. Also, as a bonus, Brisbane’s Planetarium is located next to the parking area.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 March 2024
- puckstopper31Edmonton, Canada745 contributionsPleasant relaxing strollWonderful large park to stroll. Beautiful flowers and species of trees that we’d never seen. Fantastic little cafe in amongst the park where you can find a treat or beverage and rest your feet.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 May 2024
