The Round Tower Lookout Tower – Observatory – Exhibitions – Concerts. One of the best-known and most popular structures in Denmark, the Round Tower has been a distinctive feature of the Copenhagen skyline since 1642. The Tower once soared far above the rest of the rooftops in the city, and University astronomers studied the stars and planets from the Observatory at the top. The scholars may have forsaken the building a long time ago, but during the winter visitors are still able to gaze at the cosmos from Europe's oldest functioning observatory. The platform that runs around the outside of the Observatory affords views over the old Latin Quarter – from here, you can spot most of the city's famous buildings. The Round Tower does not have an elevator, so visitors have to climb the winding, white-washed Spiral Walk, where kids often hide in the niches, only to jump out shouting “boo!” as adults approach. Halfway up the tower is the entrance to the large and stunningly beautiful Library Hall, which now serves as a popular gallery and concert venue. It hosts several exhibitions a year, and stages concerts almost every week. Above the Library is the Bell Loft, notable for its enormous wooden beams, which were used in the reconstruction of the Tower following the great fire of Copenhagen in 1728. The Loft is also home to a small exhibition of fascinating artefacts from the Tower's history, including Christian IV's wax seal, a tin of medicine produced by Tycho Brahe, and a piece of the bomb that exploded in the Library Hall during the bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807.The Round Tower was built by Christian IV between 1637 and 1642. It was the first part of the Trinitatis Complex, which combined church, library and observatory in a single building.

A reasonable price just 40DKK per person for entry, which includes free science exhibition. Walking up the sloped walkway to the top of the tower is cool and very different from other European buildings we have been into. The observatory was closed when we visited but we were able to look at the telescope which was also cool. The best part is the panoramic views at the top of the house, it was a clear sunny day and so ideal for seeing the rooftops of Copenhagen. I recommend a visit.

Interesting round tower in the middle of town. Often houses exhibitions - a modern art instalment was on when we were there. Easy to walk to the top, using a circular ‘corridor’, finishing with a few steps. Traffic light system at the top to allow people up and people down the final small amount of steps. Views given over Copenhagen . Many toilets including an original toilet about 1/2 way up / with a long drop shaft- obviously for display only. With it only being 40 DDK, it is probably one of the cheapest historical things to do in Copenhagen.

The Tower was very close to our B&B, so it was a spontaneous visit because it looked interesting. We were very early as out-of-sync travellers and were able to walk right in and enjoy a less crowded experience, taking our time. Travelling with our children and parents, we all got something different out of the visit, and each enjoyed the 360 views of the city. The history was long, they had great peeks into the structure, and it is the highest, continuous ramp ascent I’ve ever done- so not for folks who move with assistance.

This is well worth visiting and even for over 70 year olds in fairly good shape, it's a leisurely uphill walk on a level floor which winds around the tower. It is about 6 storeys in height with a final short narrower staircase (one way controlled) to be completed to reach the observation deck. The deck is an easy walk around with panoramic views and photo shots are superb. No longer included in the Copenhagen Card, it costs 40 DKK per person.

This is a fairly popular attraction and seems to always involve a short wait as there is obviously a limit to how many people can go in at one time. The cost for a adult ticket was 40 Danish Krona. It is an easy gentle walk up to the final section until you reach a final set of steep stairs. Providing you don't have any walking difficulties it very doable for all age groups. The views are fairly decent from the top although I would not describe them spectacular. For the price is it a very affordable thing for all budgets although I would say it is a fairly shot attraction to attend. Kids seem to find it more exciting than the adults from what we noticed.

It was 40 Krona to visit the RoundTower today and well worth the cost. The climb in the beginning is quite easy. Just a brick spiral pathway though there are some stairs at the end. There is a bathroom about midway just in case of an emergency. The view from the top is spectacular and is truly a 360 degree view. For those with acrophobia, it is wide enough up top with a good railing that it really should not be an issue. As expected it was quite windy and therefore chilly up top but this was December after all. Would definitely do this again. Enjoy

An amazing structure with stunning views across the city. There is a circular slope all the way up in this tower with 2 flights of stairs at the top, the last one being controlled with green & red lights telling you when you can continue. It’s not a hard walk up & you can easily stop to look out at the streets below on your way up & down.

A must if you are in Copenhagen, it is in the center so you do not have to make who knows what struggles to get there. The entrance fee is about 5 euros more or less, it is a particular tower that between one level and another also presents a small interactive exhibition. At the top everything leads to the panoramic roof with a beautiful view of the city.

If you’re nearby then worth a visit if you are able to trek up a wide spiral path with steps at the top to exit outside as only costs us £4.50 each. Allegedly horses were known to climb up. Once at the top the views are excellent as the observatory is encircled by an outdoor platform with views of the old part of Copenhagen. There is a small glass floor that you can stand on and look down the hollow core although you can’t see much as it’s so dark it would be great if it had lighting.

The queue was only about 20 minutes but well worth it for the 'climb' to the top of the tower. The spiral brick pathway goes up and round and round very gradually so it is easy to get to the top in your own time (there a few seats on the way up to rest). Halfway up the most random and weird exhibition in the old library - beer bottle lids, alcohol labels and cigarettes - we didn't spend long here! There is a great system at the top for the small flight of steps to take you right to the viewing platform - red and green traffic lights so people don't get stuck on the stairs! The view is great and the walk back down fun.

Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

Christiansborg Palace is situated on the little island of Slotsholmen (Castle Island) which is surrounded by canals in the heart of Denmark's capital, Copenhagen. Denmark has one of the oldest monarchies in the world, and the palace has a long, dramatic history which revolves around the exercise of royal power. Today, Denmark is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of governance. Under its beautiful copper roof, the palace houses the Danish parliament, the office of the Danish prime minister and the Supreme Court. It is therefore the center for legislative, executive and judicial power in Denmark. The palace also accommodates rooms for the Danish Monarchy. Focusing on the royal part of the palace, Christiansborg Palace is H.M. the Queen's working palace. This is where the Queen holds audiences, signs laws, holds banquets and receptions, celebrates royal anniversaries and receives state visits. It is a working palace where old traditions and the modern Royal Family meet. You will see dazzling halls, adorned with colorful tapestries, vast paintings, patterned floors, glittering chandeliers, and sumptuous stucco ceilings. You can explore The Royal Kitchen and see its two tons of shiny copper kitchenware. You can visit the beautiful palace chapel, stand underneath its dome and let your head spin as you gaze up at the angels in the ceiling décor more than 30 metres above you. In The Royal Stables you'll find the the white royal horses in the wintertime, and in the summertime the exhibition "All the kings' horses" - all year around you can see the Royal Family's array of carriages. One of them is coated with 24-carat gold leaf. You can also explore the underground ruins underneath Christiansborg Palace. These are ruins of earlier castles and palaces showing that the Castle Island is steeped in 800 years of power and political intrigue.
