    Research the Timetables and Routes
Loved touring on the boats but make sure you know where the routes go . We got on a boat late at night and thought it would turn around but it kept going and we exceeded the time on the ticket and had to buy a new ticket to go back. It was cold and windy.

    Too busy
Bought a 3 day ticket in order to visit the Islands but also to make our way around Venice without having to walk everywhere, plus to save our legs after a long day touring. Boats can be exceptionally busy to the point we felt cattle being herded into a barn. They give priority to locals which in some ways I can understand if commuting to work etc however they charge tourists a more expensive rate which make it unfair.

    Very convenient
We chose to take the card for 3 days of unlimited travel with this company. The card allows you to take buses and vaporetti as you want. On the other hand, the boats are often crowded and not always at the indicated time. For our part, we bought this card at the Venezia Village campsite for €45 for 72 hours/person.

Great way to see the main canals but ticket operation is dodgy at best
An excellent way for getting around the main parts of Venice but it does not go up the "back streets" so to speak. To see the smaller canals you will need to take a Gondola or a water taxi. We bought a 24 hour pass and the good thing is that it does not start until you first use it so we actually got use on the second morning of our trip as well. Be warned though; the ticket scanning machines are very temperamental and the kiosk staff are not especially helpful. We had bought our tickets online before arriving and printed off. The scanner to validate the ticket and the scanners to gain entry to the boats would not work. All the ticket office staff would say (at three different offices) was to go to the gate and keep scanning until it worked, which it never did! I thought that it might be my printer but not so as there were many others having the same problem and they had purchased tickets locally. It seems to be a regular problem. Get ready to get on board via the exits or double jump the entry gates.

    AN EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE
Excellent service, punctuality and many frequencies. Easy to access with luggage. They have passes of 1, 2,3 and 7 days. At the entrance to the pier there are the machines to validate the passes, you must do it every time you take the vaporetto, even if you have a pass for several days

A fun way of water transport from the mainland to the city of Venice
Tronchetto parking is a very large parking garage next to Venice. You pay € 25 for 24 hours. It is the cheapest possibility to park and also very convenient. From Tronchetto you can take a bus boat (vaporetto) (return card 2 people € 19) directly to St. Mark's Square. Along the way the water bus has 7 stops but at each stop it is an experience again, very nice plús the sightseeing! I recommend the Vaporette instead of taking a water taxi👍🏻👍🏻

Great way of getting around Venice and the islands
We bought a 48hr ticket for 35 euros for a weekend trip and definitely made the most of it especially when the rain started We went to Murano Burano and the Lido de Venice as well as around the whole of Venice and stayed on during the showers It can get very busy but it is easy to understand where they are going

What they don’t tell you about using the vaporetto
What they don’t tell you about using the vaporetto . Venetians get priority boarding. Tourists have to wait till the Venetians get onto the ferry. We waited for an hour in Murano to get back to Venice, because each ferry could only take a few passengers and the locals got priority. When you see people strolling on board via the exit ramp, they aren’t ‘pushing in’ they are prioritised. That’s how Venice values the tourist.

Take Line 1 and see all the major sights from the water
The Vaporetto Line 1 is a brilliant and relatively affordable way to see the Grand Canal and all the city's major sights from the water. A 75-minute ride costs 10 Euros. A 30-minute gondola ride costs 90 Euros!!! Find a stop close to where you’re staying, pay using your credit card at a machine at the stop, and try to get a seat outside at the front of the boat. Be ready with your phone camera...

Worth using (if no motion sickness issues!)
Easy to get from place to place, multiple routes around the island and along the Grand Canal. If motion sickness is not an issue, definitely worth trying while in Venice! However, if you have any motion sickness, maybe not the best option as the both the waiting locations and the buses themselves move quite a bit on the water, especially on the lagoon. Be sure to buy your access card and tap in before boarding -- tickets are periodically checked both on Venice routes and on the airport route.
