Every evening, as darkness falls, the Magic Fountain on Mount Montjuic begins its performance. Like a magic flower, he reveals his secrets in the evening to everyone, juggling jets of water and changing colours to classic accompaniment. The mesmerizing performance brings together tourists and locals alike, so, although the show is free but seats need to be booked in advance... After all, in about an hour, on the lower steps of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (previous review) - people take their seats. After enjoying the spectacle of the Magic Fountain, we set off further towards Plaza de España, accompanied by glowing jets of water (small fountains) like slender tall guards lined up on both sides of the road solemnly leading to the main fountain. As Wikipedia says: The magic fountain was built for the 1929 Barcelona World's Fair in a futuristic style, in the shape of an ellipse designed by local engineer Carlos Buigas. Until 1992, the structure was without renovation and delighted the citizens and visitors of the capital of Catalonia with nothing but lighting. But before the 1992 Olympics, the fountain - it was decided to make one of the symbols of the city, adding musical accompaniment. By the way, it was here back in 1988 that Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe performed the famous composition "Barcelona", which became a real hit and one of the anthems of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. - I advise you to check the opening hours and hours of the attraction on the site in advance so as not to get in trouble.

The event begins at 9.30 p.m. and the venue fills up by 9 o'clock. Our arrival at 8:30 gave us excellent viewing locations. It lasts for an hour and is free. It was amazing during the thirty minutes that we watched it.

The Magic Fountain is indeed pure magic, when it works! We were lucky enough to see it in its full glory and were absolutely thrilled. The volume of water is astounding and the music and whole performance is so exhilarating.

Specccatolo of the fountains of Barcelona is something fantastic, definitely worth visiting in the evening. Pay attention to the calendar, look for it online. The fountains are often turned off to save water, as Barcelona often suffers from drought. But it's still nice to go there.

We were there earlier this month. Unfortunately, due to droughts in Spain, all wells in the city are empty. The evening lights show is therefore also cancelled. We looked at the fountain by day and what can I say... it's really a beautiful and very large structure. The view from above over the city is unique. Even without water it is worth a visit and maybe better times with more rain will come.
