It’s a magic or paradise or name it as you wish. Amazing place, spectacular views, looks like you are somewhere at the other planet. In some places - the feeling is like you are at Mars. The best discovery for last year- strongly recommend.

The national park is an unearthly volcanic landscape that could be used for a sci fi film. There’s a cable car station to take you up Mt Teide, a Parador, a church, some parking places and a network of hiking trails and not a lot else, it’s completely unspoiled. The road up to the park is long and winding and takes you through and above the cloud layer, with spectacular views down. We went stargazing and found the drive back a little unnerving, driving through thick cloud in the complete darkness with hardly any other vehicles on the road was somewhat scary and I’d probably recommend making it a daytime trip. But well worth going for the vast, impressive vistas

Ok, there were three things we wanted to do when we were in Tenerife and when we found I was unable to go up the cable car due to my asthma I thought that was it. However a very nice tour company had a coach trip which went to 2500ft and went all around the local area too. The tour guide also informed us honestly that the extra £40 to go up was really not worth it. Maybe she was trying to make me feel better but not according to others who had been up themselves. There are lots of rocks, lava, burnt trees from the recent fires and lots and lots of cars and people. It is great to get out and walk about and take photos but in all honestly that's all it is, rocks, that you can't take home, can't touch, takes you ages to get through the roads as people do not want to move their hire cars over. It was worth visiting once but unless we were with people who had not been before we would probably not revisit. We also purchased Loro Parque and Siam Park twin ticket which is well worth the money.

Vast national park, so much to explore. The landscape is like being on a different planet. There’s a museum, cable car, a local bus runs through the day carrying you from one side to another (several km’s). Well worth spending a day or two visiting.

Undertook a guided tour that included demonstrations of the heat just under the soil, still warm from the volcanic activity 2-300 years ago. The scenic coach ride through the park was great as well, with good views and photo opportunities. Car drivers had a long wait at the checkpoint, but coaches appear to queue jump, and have greater access to the park, so an organised trip may be best!

Booked with Volcano Teide through TravelON WORLD Mount Teide Tour with Cable Car Tickets and it was a great day! This included being picked up from a location close to our villa and dropped off. Our tour guide sorted everything so we didn’t need to queue for the cable car, we jumped right up the front! We took a picnic with us but there is a cafe on site. The views were spectacular! The cable car isn’t recommended for people with heart conditions (which we discovered after we purchased the tickets) but our lovely tour guide was able to sell the cable car ticket to a person who couldn’t get a ticket. Win win!
