Getting to Frankfurt Zoo can be done quite easily by public transport, as two underground lines stop directly at the zoo. The zoo itself makes a good impression. It is certainly difficult to give the animals enough space and retreat on the one hand, but also to ensure that visitors do not look into supposedly empty enclosures 90% of the time. I think an acceptable compromise has been found in Frankfurt. As a nature lover, you always visit a zoo with a crying eye anyway. If you visit the zoo early in the morning immediately after opening, you can take a relaxed zoo tour in about 2 to 3 hours.

We went to the zoo relatively early on a Sunday. We arrived shortly after 9:00 in the morning. This was good inasmuch as the long lines could later be observed at the entrance. We didn't have that problem. We were then in the zoo all morning with our children and it was a really nice experience, the highlights were definitely the monkeys! The goats were also very funny. Especially with this goat crawler, where the goats get their fur clawed. We were particularly impressed by the gorillas! The only thing that really bothered us was the loud people of the church bells right next to the zoo. One wonders whether nearly 60 dB is a positive experience for the whole zoo animal. Especially if this happens regularly and even early! But it's not the people at the zoo's fault. In any case, you had to hold your ears for 5 minutes. It was really loud! All in all, it was still a really great experience in terms of animals!

The Zoo in Frankfurt is an urban zoo with a mixture of old and new. There are still traditional enclosures as they used to be common in urban zoos; too small and with a lot of concrete. Especially the enclosures of the ibex and baboons are really no longer possible. But people are visibly innovating and the zoo left a positive impression on us despite the fact that much needs and can be improved. But there are also enclosures where the animals have enough space and also hiding places so that they cannot be seen by humans. The nocturnal enclosure is huge and has a large number of different nocturnal animals of which I had never seen quite a few. The Frankfurt zoo is not very large but offers enough animals to keep you entertained for almost three hours. The paths are generally easily accessible but there is a level difference here and there so you have to climb a bit and descend again.

A really nice day. We recommend buying tickets online and food and drink from outside... often nn have card payments. Large and well maintained spaces, many animals and excellent organization and cleanliness of common places. Perfect for small children... but also for older children! Mx4

Over 400 animals with even entire areas dedicated to particular habitats. All the animals were happy and with ample space to move around and even withdraw from visitors if annoyed. Enjoying every single animal and enjoying the experience is not enough half a day to have fun. Super recommended!
