The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, the monument combines the commemorative with the symbolic and it has always played a major role in the national republican consciousness. Indescribable!
Impossible to describe how impressive it is when you are standing in line right next to it feeling like the smallest person in the world. It's a must see if you are ever in Paris. I would love to visit it again to have the chance to also see Paris from the top in the daylight.

Arc de Triomphe is a MUST!
We loved our visit to the Arc de Triomphe! Make sure to go under the tunnel to cross the highway and DEFINITELY go to the top! Our adult children walked the staircase, but we, being older individuals asked for the elevator and they took us up. If you need the elevator, you have to ask about it. It’s kind of a secret unless you know to ask! Enjoy the amazing views at the top!

    Worth a visit!
The Arc de Triomphe was a delight to see - our hotel was just down the road and we regularly walked along to see the monument as its visually striking by day or night. I am glad that we also chose to climb the steps to the top, the views are fantastic looking across to the financial district, Champs Elysée or the Eiffel Tower. Definitely worth visiting!

If the weather is good, it is a must-see
One of the "must see" places in Paris. But whether it's worth it, everyone has to decide for themselves. It's not about the price (€16) but the waiting time for the security check. If someone has a lot of time, the view of Paris will certainly make up for it After the Arc, you can go "downhill" towards Concorde or the grand palace

    A must-go in Paris
Went at night. Got the tickets to the top. before going, make sure you are ok with stair-climbing. A good amount to climb to the top where you will be rewarded with a great view of Paris. The queue to go up was fast. The view at the top was magnificent. The gift shop has loads of souvenirs to commemorate your climb and visit! Worth a visit!

    Impressive dimensions,...
The dimensions of the Arc de Triomphe are impressive...it was ordered to be built by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806, and it took 30 years to build. Napoleon could not see it finished. It represents the victory of the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, especially after the French victory at Austerlizt. It has an eternal flame that symbolizes the memory of the French who gave their lives for France, which has been burning for 100 years. It is the second largest in the world and is made of limestone. In it we can find thirty Spanish towns, yes, translated into French from the victories in the war of independence... Essential visit if you visit Paris.

    Fantastic views from the top!
Unfortunately it was raining, but that didn't really spoil the amazing panoramic views from the top viewing gallery. It is well worth buying tickets in advance, when we came down from the top on a Sunday lunchtime the queues were substantial. And for the old and infirm - take the elevator up (its 245 steep steps)

    Well worth a visit .
Lucky enough to go see this while waiting to check in on Sunday. Thank God because the queues for the other days were terrible. Well worth a visit though, views from the top are brilliant. Stairs are a bit small and there are 300 of them , take a break .

See the Eiffel Tower light up from the Arc de Triomphe
One of the most incredible views of Paris. Buy tickets in advance and schedule your visit for the afternoon/evening and watch the Eiffel Tower turn on its lights and shine over the city. It is an experience that will never be forgotten. To cross the avenue, use the underground access, do not cross between cars! It's all stairs to climb so be prepared because it's long but worth it. Upstairs there are bathrooms and a souvenir shop.

    Surprising
We have been to Paris many times, but never actually been on top of the Arc de Triomphe. On our Big Bus tour we got out to walk to the Arc and ended up on top. What a pleasant surprise. Great views and a lovely historical monument. Well worth the effort.
