    Worth a visit
Well worth a visit. It’s free to walk through the castle, but costs to enter the buildings and walk the walls. Plenty of different areas to see when paying, including the old WWII air raid shelter, the house, the Keep, and a Roman wall.

    Beautiful Castle Rich in History.
This is an amazing castle. We recommend adding on the 50 min tour for a full experience (£4) and access to special ornately decorated rooms. Our guide, Gareth was fantastic. He did a great job of showing us all the intricate details of how each room was designed. Their is a lot of history here from ancient Roman times to now. You can enjoy the Cafe, which is situated right next to the ancient Roman wall, making for a unique experience. This a must visit in Wales.

    Cardiff Castle
What a fabulous castle. I could have stayed all day. I felt very emotional when going through the bunker part of the castle. To see the metal frame beds listening to Churchill and the sound effects got to me. Something I'm glad I did. Thanks to all who kept us safe.

    Worth the trip!
What's with the negative comments? This is definitely worth a visit! A lovely visit, especially the apartments! Such an unexpected treat as I was just expecting to see ruins, ruins, ruins. I was thankful to be there on a sunny day; I would have hated to navigate the steps to the castle keep in the rain.

    Plenty to do
Plenty to see and do. The rooms tour is a must( thanks very much Jody). I also used the app for the rest of my time there and this is not too heavy on detail but gives you more than enough as you walk round the site. Firing Line museum is a fascinating museum for those interested in military history.

    The highlight of Cardiff!
Cardiff Castle is the highlight of the city's attractions! We visited on a Sunday and mistakenly entered the entrance adjacent to the main entrance, which took us to the gardens beyond the Castle, and we had to return through the correct gate. I recommend downloading the audioguide and its modules before visiting so that you can listen to the history of the Castle as you go around. The Keep is a must-visit attraction, situated in front of the castle building and surrounded by a moat. I suggest visiting this structure first, as there are approximately 100 stairs to climb. Some parts of the staircases are narrow and steep, so it can be challenging. But the view from the top of the Keep is incredible, offering a panoramic view of all the prominent buildings in Cardiff. It can get crowded as the day progresses, so it's best to visit early. Access to the Castle interiors is only available upon purchasing a ticket, which costs 15 quid. The interiors are beautiful, with Gothic and Victorian-style decor, and are well-maintained. However, access to some other rooms and the Clock Tower is only available with a guided tour, which we didn't have during our trip. As part of the Castle Ticket, we also got access to the Firing Line, a museum showcasing the history of the Welsh army. It's located on the castle grounds and is well worth a visit.

    Worth a visit
Cardiff Castle is an interesting place to visit, in the heart of the city. If you don't go on a tour, make sure you read the leaflet carefully as it's easy to miss parts of it. The keep is worth the climb to the top, but only if you can manage steep, spiral stone steps. The rooms in the house have some amazing features, particularly ceilings.

Lovely Castle … Great Afternoon Visit
Visited Cardiff Castle for the first time and had a wonderful afternoon. Our party consisted of 5 adults and we booked a guided clock tower tour and a castle house tour. Gareth was our first guide on the clock tower tour. He was thoroughly entertaining and knowledgable. He encouraged questions and kindly offered to take group photos of our party within the highly decorated rooms. After our clock tower tour we visited the gift shop and had drinks at the on site cafe before setting off to explore the keep. Very steep steps take you to the top but it is worth the climb for the lovely views over Cardiff and Bute Park. Our second tour of the afternoon was into the house. Again another very interesting and informative tour around a beautifully decorated and furnished house. The gem of the tour was a visit to the roof top garden… never seen one at a castle before and we have visited a few and of course the Arab Room… we were all speechless. If in Cardiff, I would recommend visiting the Castle and its tours as well as having a cream tea or a slice of delicious cake at Pettigrew Tea Rooms next door. William Pettigrew was the head gardener at the castle and lived in the building which is now the tea rooms….

Oppulent 2000 years old Charming Cardiff Castle
We had an experienced guide who gave our tour group a fascinating private tour and lead us through the upper rooms of the 2000 year old castle with remains from Roman, Norman and Victorian times. The extravagant rooms are extraordinary ornate and oppulent in decor, with ceilings guilded in gold and pictures of animals which John 3rd Marquess of Bute had decorated. We marvelled at the gorgeous roof top garden, library, advanced toilet facilities and small bed which John the third had. It is gratifying that John the 5th donated the Castle to Cardiff. We climbed up to the Keep for a lovely panaromic view of Cardiff. Highly recommended to visit one of the oldest castle in Wales. Helen

    Cardiff Castle guided tour
Guided tour of the castle with Gareth who was very knowledgeable and friendly. The castle is very interesting with an array of beautifully decorated room and a history dating back 2,000 years. For those with impatient kids, the tour is relative short, just less than an hour.
