    Beautiful shrine
This is a beautiful shrine! We went early in the morning and there was still a good crowd, so be prepared. The walk in is lovely and there is a shop on the path with a lot of great souvenirs. I bought my goshuin book at the shrine but I kind of wish I had gone to the store first because they had a lot of options. We paid extra to visit the garden too, and it was beautiful if somewhat small. Definitely a highlight of the trip!

A spiritual brush with living tradition
Wonderful shrine. Impressive gate and shrine, with real live monks wandering about in wooden shoes. A working shrine, its weight of spiritual import was enhanced by the fact it is in the present and the past.

Very serene place - defintely worth visiting
We visited on a a fine weather day and found it to be a very serene and restful place in the heart of bustling Tokyo. The main shine and area is very well ordered and laid out and we felt that ¥500 per person was very reasonable to enter the garden. All in, we;; worth a visit.

    Meiji Jingu Shrine
I found this place very interesting. Lots of areas to visit and history to take in. Evidence of community use. We saw parents with a baby blessing their young baby and a wedding party with a happy couple. Evidence of a camphor tree planted in 1920 caught my eye.

Clearly an important sight in Tokyo
A shrine worth seeing in the center of Tokyo. From the entrance gate you first walk through a park, which takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city into peace and quiet (okay, apart from the number of tourists). We were lucky in two ways: great weather at the beginning of March and then a wedding party passed by us. So it's worth a visit here to learn a little about the country's religious culture.

    Beautiful shrine and surroundings
Really beautiful area and surroundings. One of my favorite shrines I’ve seen in Tokyo. We were lucky to have great weather, which made it easier to enjoy the garden grounds. Lots to walk around and to see. There is a station to get stamps or a stamp book. Another part to make well wishes and to get a fortune (100yen). They hold Japanese weddings here so there were 2 there when we were there. I’d really recommend going if you have time.

We visited this temple on our tour of Japan. We were lucky enough to be accompanied by our very knowledgeable guide who explained the history of the shrine and the significance of the Meiji restoration. You enter the site via an impressive Tori gate and suddenly find yourself immersed in a peaceful forest in the middle of the city! The shrine and surrounding grounds are beautiful and I would highly recommend including this in your itinerary. You can check your fortune too! You might get lucky.

    Beautiful surroundings; peaceful shrine!
We visited in pouring rain, but it was still a very pleasant visit. The large trees surrounding the shrine were mostly grown from 120,000 seedlings donated by people at the time of the shrine's construction in 1920. The big twin camphor trees in front of the shrine, tied together with a huge rope signifying couples' love and loyalty, are interesting highlights, as well as the prayers and wishes written on wooden slats hanging near the shrine.

  • Tokyo Camii & Turkish Culture Center Hotels
Tokyo Camii, also known as Tokyo Mosque, is a mosque with an adjoining Turkish culture center located in the Ōyama-chō district of Shibuya ward in Tokyo, Japan. It is the largest mosque in Japan. The mosque was originally built along with an adjoining school on May 12, 1938 by Bashkir and Tatar immigrants from Russia who had come to Japan after the October Revolution. It was made under the direction of Abdürreşid İbrahim, the first Imam of the mosque, and Abdülhay Kurban Ali. In 1986, the mosque had to be demolished because of severe structural damage. Under the direction and support of Diyanet İşleri Başkanliği a new building was begun in 1998. The architect for the building was Muharrem Hilmi Senalp. The ornamentation was based on Ottoman religious architecture. Around 70 Turkish craftsmen performed the finishing details, and a considerable quantity of marble was imported from Turkey. The construction was completed in 2000. Tokyo Camii is 734 square meters in area. Its main dome is 23 meters tall and is supported by six pillars, while the adjacent minaret is 41 tall.
