Langmeil Winery offers guests a relaxing friendly place to visit. Open from 10am to 4pm daily, the gardens are beautiful and child friendly. Ample areas to enjoy a glass or bottle of some yummy wines. Wine tastings are free, or you can book in for a special premium wine tasting in the Freedom room for $75 per person showcasing the old vine wines (allow about an hour and bookings are essential), or a tour and tasting for $150 per person showcasing the Freedom Cellar and tour of the old gnarly Shiraz vineyard believed to be the oldest in the world (allow up to 3 hours and bookings essential). The old Blacksmiths workshop and stables speak the history of ye ole Langmeil Village - one of the first settlements in the Barossa. There is something for everyone at Langmeil Winery. Our Barossa Valley Cellar Door is situated along Para Road on the banks of the Para River. Built in the 1880’s the Hoffmann Cellar is one of the original Barossan wineries. Carved into the hill to allow the natural course of gravity to influence the winemaking process, the small winery still stands with its beautiful grand archway entrance. In the heart of the Cellar Door the stunning red gum bar stands proudly and has been the centrepiece for tasting some of Australia’s most awarded Barossa Valley wines for many years. It continues to welcome visitors from all over the world to enjoy a tasting and create memorable moments. While the old stone building and verandah are a lovely setting to enjoy a glass of wine or two, it’s the surrounding lawns and gardens that make the Peter Lehmann winery really special. Nestled in the foothills of the eastern Barossa ranges, Rusden is a family owned and operated producer, specialising in handcrafted wines sourced from the vineyards surrounding the Cellar Door. The Rusden name is synonymous with quality and is unique in the way it operates. We are a single vineyard estate in the Vine Vale sub-region of the Barossa. Rusden’s philosophy incorporates the old Independent Vignerons banner of “Traditional Winemakers” where respect for terroir is paramount. We tend and harvest our own vineyards to ensure that traditional viticultural practises are kept alive. We see ourselves very much as custodians of the land, and seek to minimise our environmental “footprint” in everything we do. The Rusden brand is comprised of ten wines; each made using traditional methods, producing small batches of the highest quality wine, indicative of the Vine Vale terroir. Our aim is to make wines that refine the power of Barossa fruit, yet highlight the floral aromatics and spice characters so evident in wines made from grapes grown in Vine Vale’s sandy soil. Since the first vintage of Charles Melton Wines in 1984, this small Barossa Valley winery has gained both national and international recognition for its fine red table wines. The wines move from a light red, ‘The Rose of Virginia’ through to Australia’s premier Rhone-style red, ‘Nine Popes’. Charlie Melton also makes small quantities of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sparkling Shiraz, and is the only Australian producer of a vin-santo styled dessert wine, Sotto di Ferro. Charlie was one of the first to recognize the value and tradition of the Barossa’s old vineyard Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. At a time when others were pulling out vineyards of Shiraz to plant more fashionable varieties, Charlie was convincing farmers to keep their historic vineyards. He was one of a small group of winemakers who helped retain the viticultural heritage of the Barossa.
