Stunning. Iconic. Paradise on Earth. Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro is a mesmerizing destination that embodies the spirit of Brazil like no other. As I stepped onto the powdery white sand, I was instantly transported into a world of tropical bliss. The beach stretches for miles, fringed with vibrant beach umbrellas, swaying palm trees, and an electric atmosphere that never fades. The crystal-clear waters of Copacabana are irresistibly inviting, beckoning you to take a dip and escape from the heat. Whether you're a seasoned surfer catching epic waves or simply wishing to relax on a sunbed, there's something for everyone here. The beach is well-equipped, offering a range of amenities, from beachside bars serving refreshing caipirinhas to beach vendors offering mouthwatering local snacks.

My husband and I spent about a week at a hotel directly across the street from Copacabana Beach around Reveillon/New Year's. It wasn't too crowded especially in the water. My husband had fun getting knocked around by the giant waves while I drank from a coconut on a beach chair. It is relatively well-maintained but there are cigarette butts and other bits of trash to be wary of in the sand. If you're sitting on the beach, vendors will approach you to rent out chairs and umbrellas, sell you food, drinks, cigarettes, or clothing, and offer to braid your hair. Nao obrigado sends them on their way if that is what you prefer. If the price seems too high, it probably is. We asked around at a couple vendors before buying/renting. The locals sit much closer to the water than people in other countries we have been to. The walk to the shore feels quite long in all the sand. We walked by the hoses for the outdoor showers because the wet sand was easier. We brought very little to the beach which seemed common. A beach wrap or towel, your room key, and nothing else is ideal for tourists. Plus some cash stuck in your top if you want to buy things. We did see a few people get their stuff snatched, especially phones, from our room.

Its a beautiful very long beach. But unoftunately its full of scam. They gave us 2 mojoto( literally put that in out mouth/forcibly and and told us another mojito is free. And asked to 50 us dollars for all 3 of them. The whole beach smells like piss just like the whole city. I do not know if it is because of carnival time. It is so much fun, but i do not recommend to people whose priorities are hygiene and secureity.

I was fascinated to see one of the famous beaches of the world and ended up really liking it. We were staying nearby, it was nice to stroll along the boardwalk area and when we sat on the beach I thought renting chairs and buying drinks were all fairly priced and the vendors were pleasant and non-aggressive (although the sheer amount of them made it harder to relax). Impressed how easy it is to get to the centre of the city from here on the metro too.

We visited Copacabana with touring with a guide. We didn't sit on the beach but walked the very nice promenade and checked out the market. Later in the day, returned for dinner. It's a very nice area with lots of restaurants and bars in addition to the beach.

Over the years I have stayed at Copacabana, Ipanema and Lebanon beaches more than 30 times. There are no other places to compare. I have travelled most of the world. Walking on the beach or pedestrian walk with kiosks and benches with variety food food and drinks. get a fresh coco and watch people different age groups playing volleyball. Mostly walking from Leblon to Copacabana via Ipanema on Sunday morning. (vehicular traffic is stooped in Copacabana.). Most happiest and worry less people you will see. You have to dress and behave like a local in order to be safe and enjoy.

We stayed on the Copacabana beach front and therefore had the pleasure of strolling around there frequently. It’s full of life both day and night. The sand is perfect, the sea can be pretty choppy and the people all appear to be real life characters. Love the place. Plenty of bars, beach volleyball and footie. Never boring. Relax and enjoy, it feels very safe also.

We stayed two blocks away and it was an easy walk. There are may vendors approaching you to stay in their area and the prices vary a fair bit. Talk to a few before deciding, we found going farther south down the beach towards zone 1 was better. We had the added service of our feet being watered throughout the day as an included extra and we could fit 4 chairs under one large umbrella. Expect a non stop stream of beach vendors selling everything including full lunches cooked in front of you.

One of the iconic beaches of the world and rightly so. It is the city’s heartbeat, all activity takes place on the beach. Whether people are playing football, volleyball, exercising, strolling, swimming or just sunbathing it is the life of the city. Just wonderful to see and be part of. Yes the beach can be busy and packed quite close together, but that is just part of it being so lively and fun. Walking the whole length of the promenade is just wonderful, it is what you hope Rio will be, lively and colourful. It is similarly a nice place to walk at night. Yes you might have to be a little careful and not walk with jewellery or expensive phones and cameras to be on the safe side but the bars and restaurants are near enough to each other not to worry.

This beach is great for people watching, especially the kids playing football very skilfully. We sat in an area reserved for our hotel, with attendants, so felt safe. Didn’t see anything untoward happening. Breach is dirtier than expected with lots of rubbish in the sand. Vendors come round but they are not pesky.
