The Blue Lake/Warwar in Mount Gambier occupies one of the craters of the extinct volcano after which the city has been named. Early each November, the lake's sombre blue, which is in evidence during the winter months, mysteriously changes to an intense deep turquoise blue almost overnight. The colouring remains until late February, when it gradually changes. From late March, it returns to a distinct sombre blue colouring that remains until the following November. The 3.6 kilometre road and walking track around the circumference of the Blue Lake/Warwar provides access to many viewing points, the most popular being the underpass between the Blue Lake/Warwar and the Leg of Mutton Lake/Yatton Loo.

Stroll around the old-style farm at your own pace, feed the animals, chat to the farmers and explore the outbuildings on a self guided visit. Echo Farm offers a step back in time and an immediate sense of calm through interaction with a variety of animals. Historic displays add to the charm. Echo Farm is open Sunday to Friday, public holidays, and school holidays. Animal food is included in your entry fee. Allow about an hour for your visit. Dress for outdoor conditions and farm walking. Drive down into the Valley Lake area and enjoy the Conservation Park, with koalas and kangaroos. Children will love the Adventure Playground. Bring a picnic and discover Brownes Lake. This was the site of Mount Gambier's original botanic gardens and the area is picturesque all year round, but especially in Autumn. You'll find covered shelters and 16 free gas barbecues within well-kept picnic areas. The expanse of grassed areas caters for many family activities & water sports on the lake. You can also give disc golf a go at the Crater Lakes Disc Golf Course. The Conservation Park presents indigenous species of flora and fauna in an environment very similar to that which would have originally been found in the area. The area is serviced by a network of walking tracks, all of which lead to lookouts, providing excellent viewing and photographic opportunities as well as the chance to enjoy the local flora and fauna. The iconic tower stands at the summit of Mount Gambier. A short but steep walk rewards visitors with 360 degree views stretching nearly 100kms. Open whenever the flag is flying.

Mount Gambier Visitor Information Centre provides a warm welcome and a wide range of brochures, with qualified staff ready to assist you to get the best out of your visit to Mount Gambier. Get a taste of the region as you explore the Discovery Centre located within the centre. Public toilets, ample parking, large vehicle parking, bus departure bay, disabled access, after hours information at the front door. Open daily, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday and Sunday and Public Holidays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

CAVE: Embark on our 45-60 minute cave tour where you explore an excellent example of the famous water filled caves of the region. The cave has two caverns which show the geological characteristics of limestone cave formation and the changes in underground water levels. Tours available daily. Fee applies.
